Toiletries/make up in pregnancy

Hi everyone,

I’m about 5 weeks pregnant…really hoping it sticks (I’ve suffered 2 miscarriages in the past) and I was just wondering what everyone’s stance is on toiletries?

I’ve swapped to pregnancy friendly laundry detergent, organic shower gel, natural deodorant, pregnancy safe bubble bath, shampoo with no surfaces etc etc and I’m even cautious about putting on my usual lipstick!

I have a few chronic health conditions so I really want to be cautious and do everything in my power to make sure this pregnancy is a healthy one. But am I over egging it slightly? I’m pretty sure in the 80s all this pregnancy safe/all natural organic stuff wasn’t available and I turned out ok?

Also, what is everyone else using? I’d love some recommendations!

Gently, I do think you're overdoing it, but there's no reason not to use all that natural stuff so why not?! But I highly doubt it would have caused or led to miscarriages (I mean non natural products).

Just try not to obsess over certain things. I know, easier said than done! 😋

I think you need to game so perspective and get peace of mind. Perhaps you could speak to your GP. I totally understand you want to be cautious but MCs happen you know that. Please ask for GP advice so you can start to relax.

Er.... I didn't even know this was a thing! I just used normal stuff in pregnancy and now have a healthy toddler!

RibNSaucyArseCrack · 18/05/2022 21:19

I just used my normal stuff?

Regenbogen22 · 18/05/2022 21:20

I even switched back to normal, evil aluminium antiperspirant because......pregnancy BO. Eww.

I'm 5 weeks too and haven't changed any of my toiletries or cosmetics in years, nor will I be. My toddler turned out fine! Try to relax.

Oh great! Thanks so much for the reassurance. I’ve been Googling and it’s all ‘pregnancy safe this and that’ and it freaked me out a bit! They’re probably just trying to fleece money out of people.
