Thrush or UTI at 15 weeks?

Hey guys. I’m 15 weeks today and since the last 2 days I’ve had the worst itching down there that I’ve ever had. It’s been non stop itching it’s the worst thing I’ve ever felt. It also feels swollen and super sore, because of how much I’ve been itching although I’ve been trying my best not to. I can’t explain where exactly the itching is but it’s all over my genital area especially on the vulva and labia. It’s so red down there so sore. This is probably the worst thing I’ve ever felt and I can’t get rid of it I don’t know what to do. I’ve used yoghurt down there as I read but it only helps to soothe the area for a little while. I bought canestan cream and pessary over the counter as I was unable to get an appointment with my gp until Friday and my midwife doesn’t answer her phone.

I also need to pee more frequently like every 2 hours or so. Sometimes when I go, very little comes out TMI sorry. But tbh even before pregnancy I always needed to pee frequently because I drink so much water.

Do you guys think this is thrush or a UTI? I’ve thought it’s thrush but now I’m thinking what if it’s a UTI and it goes untreated? It’s almost 7pm now but I’m definitely going to try to get an urgent appointment tomorrow and find out what this is. I know that UTIs can be really serious and harmful to the baby in pregnancy and this is terrifying.

@dreamerkr sounds like thrush to me but do get checked for UTI
Don't worry, they are very common in pregnancy and I've had a stubborn one with 2 courses of antibiotics over the months
Def call GP tomorrow though to check for UTI
You can always buy thrush cream over the counter if you're in that much discomfort
Tesco pharmacy are open late
They are just funny about pessarys and mine won't sell them to me telling me to call my GP I had to use a pessary once at the weekend as I had a bad flare up but my GP are reluctant prescribing them - my midwife is
Too but the cream just wasn't working
For me it's something I've put up with

It went away so has sex as it had been ages and it flared up again so I'm not doing that anymore!!

but I often use the cream as my thrush comes and goes and it's horrible so the cream keeps it at bay for me x

I’m using canestan cream, I’ve applied it once and I hope it works. This feels like hell it’s so bad

I don’t think it’s a UTI because I have a rash of some sort down there too? Ugh.

Sounds like thrush.

Pessary and cream is the only treatment that’s safe in pregnancy, the tablet isn’t safe for pregnant women to have.

Do make an appointment at your local GUM clinic though as we can examine and treat you (without you having to pay for over the counter treatment) 🙂

In the meantime, try to stop scratching, avoid soaps/shower gels, use plain water to wash, try and shower instead of bathing.

IMO the cream takes ages to work and only affective if applied 3 times daily for 2 wks but I suffered a good 3wks before I got a pessary

Then it cleared up - now I'm sore again
But more red and irritated not itchy or bad just annoying

If you have a midwife app they may help as that's how I got mine
She did a swab to test for thrush as sometimes it can be other things like bv
But my swab came back I had thrush
X

So I had a telephone appointment with my GP today and it lasted 1 minute. She said I have thrush which is very common in pregnancy, and she prescribed canesten the exact same one I’ve been using since yesterday. She didn’t think it’s a UTI but I don’t know.. it does feel more like thrush and it’s a teeny bit better than yesterday but I still want to get tested for a UTI? Or should I just continue using the canesten?
