Getting a low fever at 15 weeks pregnant

Hey guys, I’m currently 15 weeks pregnant and since this morning I’m feeling as if I’m getting a low fever. It’s nothing too bad but my eyes are burning at times and I have a flu. No sore throat, nothing like that. I also have had slight cramping in my back (I guess because of the fever) and twinges in my lower stomach but those are better now. The fever isn’t high or anything and i took a lateral flow test which was negative also. Apart from this I feel absolutely fine, I’ve been outside all day and I’m probably tired because of that too. Any advice? I’ve had three early miscarriages in the past and this is the furthest I’ve ever been in a pregnancy, so I’m really worried and confused on what to do. Should I take a paracetamol, or only if the fever goes higher? I’m not sure, I probably sound so stupid right now but every tiny little thing has me worried in this pregnancy. Any advice guys?

I had a slight fever/raised temp at around 14/15 weeks due to COVID 😫. I just took it easy and at some point took one paracetamol (500mg) which really helped.

Take a paracetamol if you're worried!

It’s not that bad right now that’s why I haven’t taken a paracetamol yet but I will do if it gets worse (fingers crossed it won’t). I’m more worried about baby than myself 🥺 I got worried thinking it’s covid too even though I don’t have any other symptoms except a slightly raised temperature and slight body pain. But a lateral flow test was negative so I’m not sure 😔 I’ve had a flu since last night though.

Okay I’m probably gonna sound crazy but I can definitely take paracetamol in pregnancy right? It’s not harmful at all?

Yes it’s 100% ok to take paracetamol on pregnancy. Just take 1 tablet and for the shortest time possible.

Athough if you feel fine and have been pottering about I wouldn’t bother taking anything. Have a bath and an early night with your favourite snack.

i suffered from HG and both DC turned out fine (massive weight loss and lots of medication) It’s worrying being pregnant and you over think everything. Every small pain you think the worst. You aren’t alone with the pregnancy worries at all. I would say practice hypnobirthing now as it can help with the stress and anxiety

Yes you can take paracetamol.

My fever got a bit higher last night and I had a fever all night but since I woke up this morning I feel a little better, I don’t think I have a fever right now or if I do it’s really slight. Do you guys think I should call the maternity unit for advice? My GP is useless. They don’t even talk without an appointment which they’ll give me for a week later.

If the fever has broken I think it's fine. If you're worried you could call the maternity unit to put your mind at rest. They won't mind. Or otherwise 111. If it's any reassurance I had a horrific fever and chills at 26 weeks and had I been able to get out of bed to call for help I would have. Literally couldn't move. By morning the fever had broken and felt better so I left it and everything was fine.

I’ll leave it for the time being then and if I get a fever again then I’ll call them. Thank you so much

I had the flu when I was around 23 weeks pregnant (on top of moving house) and just took paracetamol and rested. Unless the fever is ridiculously high (think 39/40c) and isn't coming down with medicine, you should be absolutely fine. I know how you are feeling is possibly rooted in anxiety, but genuinely a slight fever/virus will not be a problem.

This is so reassuring, thank you so much. 😌
