Gestational sac measuring 5 days behind

Hey ladies, so I had an early scan today due to some brown spotting, it was a trans abdominal scan, she could see a gestational sack and a yolk, she could also see a cyst which she said would cause the bleeding, my concern is she dated me from the sack as 5+2 but I know I am at least 6+1.... could the measurements be out?? X

That's only 4/5 days difference!

It's so small at this stage that tiny measurements could mean days difference. Plus she didn't do an internal scan which can often be more accurate 🙄

I wouldn't worry too much. Do you have to go back, or did they take bloods for HCG?

Pregnantandvworried · 15/05/2022 17:50

@Moosh18 I am in similar position.
Do you know how big the gestational sac was ?

I am 6w4d but measured only 5 weeks on Wednesday . Only 7mm GS was visible on the scan. I had a private scan today and the GS only grown 2 mm, measuring 0.97mm . I am going for a re scan in 2 weeks .

Hope it turns out OK for you.

Moosh18 · 15/05/2022 18:11

@Pregnantandvworried I'm not sure, she said she could see a sac and yolk inside, but it was external only so I'm hoping that it just wasn't accurate as I know when i ovulated have been told to go back in two weeks, but think I'll do ten days x

I had a scan at 6w and measured 5w2, they only saw a sac and nothing else.
4 days later (felt like forever) I was scanned again and they saw a sac, yolk and a heartbeat and I was measuring 6w.
I'm now nearly 11w and had a private scan yesterday and it's all doing well.
At the early stages it's all so small that it can be so hard to date which why they don't usually scan until at least 7w

Do you know how big the sac was at 5w2d ? I also rescanned after 4 day but again just an empty sac was seen .

Hey Moosh! I think you definitely need an internal one to see everything fully this early so I feel positive for you that they seen that much on a regular scan :) xx

At 5w2 the sac measured 7mm iirc

Have they taken bloods at all? I had bloods taken at the first scan and then the second

Moosh18 · 15/05/2022 20:23

@MochaHoldTheMilkAndCoffee no they didn't as it was private xxx

I didn't have bloods taken. It will be long 2 weeks waiting for the next scan.

Pregnantandvworried · 26/05/2022 11:16

@Moosh18 just wondered how are you and if you had any updates?
I have my scan tomorrow. X

Moosh18 · 26/05/2022 12:56

@Pregnantandvworried I'm terrified!! My scan is tonight, stupidly a doctor did my hcg levels at 6 weeks and they only showed a 1300 rise in 48 hours no where near doubling so I'm expecting the worst! The levels were above 22k so just praying thru slowed down x

I understand how you feel and hope that everything goes ok tonight 🤞 please keep us updated x

Moosh18 · 28/05/2022 03:31

@Pregnantandvworried just to update everything was fine! Caught up on time and everything measuring as should! In fact one day ahead! So praying all stays well! I just don't have any sickness the time which terrifies me! I was so so so ill last time x

@Moosh18 Great news. I am so happy for you 😊

My scan didn't go well unfortunately.
They found a baby measuring 4mm but without a heartbeat. I have to wait another week for a re scan.
I am now 8w2d pregnant. They found empty sac at 5w6d .It feels like a torture waiting another week

Moosh18 · 28/05/2022 08:29

@Pregnantandvworried I'm so so sorry! I went through hell for three weeks, of being told I basically had no chance and to expect to miscarry, I'm so sorry you are having to wait again ❤️

Hi @Moosh18
I have a similar situation. I went in for my first US on wednesday (5w5d ivf) and gestational sac measured 5w and embryo measured 5w6d. They told me to come back next week so hopefully we can hear a HB too. But after some googling I’m terrified of the possible outcome :( My yolk sac also seems a bit too big.
How did it turn out for you? I hope everything is going well for you 🙏🏼

Moosh18 · 28/10/2022 14:59

@catmomcat I went back two weeks later just before 8 weeks and it had caught up to the exact day that I'd thought sadly it ended in a MMC for me at 12 weeks, but I don't think that was anything to do with measuring behind as my next scan I'd totally caught up and was bang on with the date I should of been, there was a heartbeat too! So I'm sure all will be perfect for you ❤️

So sorry about your loss @Moosh18
It’s such a rollarcoaster of feelings, I didn’t expect this. Wish you the best.

Moosh18 · 28/10/2022 15:39

@catmomcat I honestly wouldn't worry about it being out at this point! After catching up by my next scan it wouldn't concern me now. After everything I went through let me tell you Google never ever offered any reassurance! For every good thing I read there was two bad!

I am currently 6 weeks pregnant and I am not googling anything!

Best of luck to you and congratulations xxxx

Great news @Moosh18 , congratulations!
Hope everything goes smoothly ☀️
You’re so right about googling, it mostly does more harm than good. But I just came across a recent study which gave me a little hope. I’m putting the link here for others in search for hope: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6248327/#__ffn_sectitle
Thank you @Moosh18 , your words also put my mind at ease. I guess I just have to trust the process.
Best of luck to you! xx
