The cervix length after LLETZ during pregnancy

Hello girls!
I’ve had an ultrasound in a private clinic on my 10th week and the nurse told that I have 28 mm length of the cervix. She told it’s ok, but… as I know it should be around 40 at this period.
I just worry because had Lletz 4 month ago. So I don’t know is it ok to wait my nhs scan in 12th week or should I call the midwife immediately because the cervix is so short.
Could you please share if you have lletz what was the length of the cervix during your pregnancy?

Not had a lletz, but I would contact midwife. I'd ask for cervical length to me monitored as you may need a cerclage (cervical stitch). If cervix opens up too much the cerclage is less likely to hold.

I wouldn’t worry - I told my midwife on my booking notes about a previous LLETZ and she booked me in for a cervical ultrasound at 13 weeks - there is plenty of time!

it does involve a consultant referral though so you do need to make sure your midwife knows so she can do that.

I think the minimum length they look for is about 25mm before putting a stitch in but at 28mm they will probably want to monitor you :)

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I told my midwife too and she told to look after the length and maybe later.

I think different trusts check the length at different times, I had mine checked at 20 weeks (also had Lletz), it was 18mm and reduced to 15mm the following week so I now have a stitch in. Definitely worth letting the midwife know what the length is now though I think.

Please ask to be referred to a consultant in my last pregnancy I had lletz nine months previously, I was monitored from 21 weeks and my cervix shortened to 2.3, had progesterone pessaries and regular checks and all was fine, I was signed off at 32 weeks and put on rest as DD was engaged and my cervix very soft, but went to term. Anything over 2.5 is fine, but at a starting point of 2.8 I'd be wanting a referral. This time due to previous history I had cervical length scans from 14 weeks, so far so good, I'm not 24+5 and they're not doing any further scans to check as all ok.

@Persika I had cervical checks every fornight from 16-24 weeks due to history of LLETZ and fertility clinic concerns about short cervix. Everything was totally fine, just monitored in case it became and issue and hasn't. Best of luck x

So thank you to share your story! Hope everything will be well this time with you too!
yes, I worry because it’s just beginning and it’s already 28:( hope will manage it. My midwife know about Lletz and she told that would refer me to an obstetrician but Not now as I understand.
