Im currently 16 weeks pregnant, I'm usually a size 10 with small 32b boobs. However, I'm starting to get a little podge is it too soon to fit into maternity clothes? Also looking for recommendations for good clothes and bras. Am I best to size up or buy maternity. Boob wise I'm bursting out of my normal bras and its getting rather uncomfortable.

Thanks in advance

Definitely not too soon, I’m 17 weeks (second pregnancy) and have been in my maternity clothes for a fortnight now. Make the most of it, maternity clothes are so comfortable! I like seraphine’s maternity and nursing bras - they have lots of hooks so are flexible for when you are growing and you don’t have to get a specific bra size which is helpful. My maternity clothes are mostly from seraphine and h and m ( like some of their non maternity T shirts and loose dresses, I just sized up and last time they fitted for most of my pregnancy), some from asos and new look - all fine.

Size up for bras, I ended up getting new bras twice so went up one cup size and two chest sizes.
Clothes I went into maternity around 18wks after wearing lots of elasticated waist stuff so you might as well do it now but get stuff with lycra otherwise it'll be too big now. I bought a few things of Vinted and otherwise, New look and next were not too pricey. Just buy your normal size but in maternity.

Hi OP,

I'm a similar size to you so can sympathise on the bra issues. This is my second so I had some bras from last time still but have just been out and bought a new one yesterday. I decided to keep the band size and just go up in cup size so it'll still fit when my band goes back to normal. I've got bra extenders to use when I need them.

I've been holding out on my larger normal clothes until this week (also 16 weeks), but I am starting to have to wear maternity clothes. I agree with a PP about Seraphine - I got most of mine on eBay. I've also got stuff from JoJo Maman Bebe, Mamalicious and Isabella Oliver from eBay. I found it difficult to know what I was going to like wearing until I'd actually worn it a bit.

The time to wear maternity is whenever you become uncomfortable in your usual clothes or feel they don't fit properly. There's no set bump size or gestation for switching to maternity!

As for bras, God knows. I'm 25 weeks and still trying to figure this out. Breasts usually do increase in size throughout pregnancy but maternity bras are very expensive so chances are if you shell out now, they won't fit in another month or two. Lots of women like wearing crop top type bras as they are stretchy with room to expand. I prefer not to wear them at the moment just because of the shape and fit of my maternity tops (most are V-neck and these types of bras would be visible).

I hope you find solutions which work for you. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

I started buying bits and bobs on Vinted at 15 weeks (I'm nearly 18 weeks now). There are lots of lovely barely worn things on there. I'm at home most of the time so I've bought leggings and 1 pair of jeggings, plus some tops. I haven't needed to spend much. I just wanted clothes that will be comfy and last.

I've bought some wireless bras from Matalan as my heartburn means I can't have anything pressing on my stomach / ribcage. They're really good value for money.

Thanks all! I'm going to have a look on vinted and ebay to try and find some bargains. I don't want to spend a fortune xxx
