Currently sat in A&E waiting to be seen. Im 19 weeks and had quite a big electric shock from plugging in my straighteners in plug socket this morning! I am absolutely mortified! My whole body convulsed and I am absolutely terrified of the effect on my baby :(

Its probably so rare I doubt I’ll have many people who this has happened to, but if it’s happened to you please tell me everything was ok!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Gosh that must have been terrifying. Can you feel your baby moving ok?
I looked after 2 people who suffered pulmonary embolism after electric shock, so definitely ask advice about that. I don't think it was possible to prove causation, but neither of them had any other risk factors so it seemed the most likely reason.
I hope you get seen very quickly.
Get a qualified electrician to check the socket and your wiring, just in case the problem is there and not just the straighteners.

I have just felt her kick whilst waiting in A&E so that’s always a great sign! Thank you so much for the advice, I will definitely ask. Luckily DH is an electric engineer, it was the straighteners that caused it, he found the wires were exposed on it which I didn’t even notice :(
