Pains started yesterday but didn't really think much of it , just felt like some slight period pains in back / very lower belly

They eased if and I actually slept pretty well for s change,

Woke up early this morning and while lying in bed I experienced them again , they came and went for a while and they are now back again (I wouldn't really describe them as contractions though )

Is this normal for 36 weeks ? Can't remember this with my 1st at this stage

Braxton Hicks probably?

Sunnysideup07 · 12/05/2022 09:31

@Sunnysideup07 I did think that after doing a bit of research, but I always thought they were more across the whole belly and without pain 🤷‍♀️

I had a lot of back pain in the later stages but mine were both back to back- is yours at the moment? Sounds interesting that it’s coming and going, I’d be inclined to run it past your mw in case it’s early stages of labour.

@SockFluffInTheBath I'm not aware that baby it back to back (when I feel bump I'm sure I can feel back along my stomach)

I will see how it goes for the next few hours ans of no better I will contact midwife

I remember having all sorts of aches and pains with my last few (still didn't go into labour on my own 🙄) but yes always speak to your midwife.

Sunnysideup07 · 12/05/2022 10:39

For now I'm going to just assume it's normal ! Unless they get more painful

If they are coming and going at regular intervals every few minutes or so (as opposed to one every half hour or something) I would consider them contractions. That you describe is what they felt like for me).

Braxton hicks? I didn’t get them with my first but got them so bad with my second that I started to time them several times in the weeks leading to the main event thinking it was labour - and that’s as someone who has had a baby so knew exactly what to expect!
