Anyone else had a hernia on their belly button?

My doctor told me I had a hernia on my bellybutton but it was during a scan and I never really paid much attention. He didn’t seem concerned, but I’ve noticed it getting bigger and sticking out more. Sometimes it’s a little sore. Anyone else had this? Is it common/nothing to worry about?

I had this and had it fixed 4.5 yrs after giving birth. It’s alright now but the hernia has definitely affected my core strength and I have permanent lower back pain. If it needs fixing try and get it done asap after having baby.

I was born with one over 60 years ago and was operated when I was a few months old which left me with a 2 inch scar just below my navel

I have one - it popped out a couple of years ago and I had to have a very painful procedure in casualty to squeeze it back in!! It's sore occasionally but otherwise is no hassle, the doctors offered me surgery on it if it becomes a pain

Do you mean an umbilical hernia? I developed one in my second pregnancy, and my gp advised me not to have surgery on it until I was done having babies. It only really gives me problem in the first half of pregnancy, otherwise pilates and yoga really helped to strengthen my core so that the hernia didn’t really bother me.

currently third time pregnant and I will ask for it to be operated on if it causes issues after this birth.

I had one as a baby - I’m told I had a coin taped over it for a while! It corrected itself but I actually have a GP appointment next week because it’s tender to touch now. I had no problems with it through any of my pregnancies.

I was born with one. Operation when I was 6, by which time the pain was crippling (I dont remember, my parents told me). This was in the 1960s so scar looks like a hatchet job. I've been told I can have a repair operation but Im not going to bother. I do think its affected my core strength.
