Hi everyone I have been prescribed flucloxacillin to take for 5 days due to a vaginal bacterial infection- I'm 7 weeks 3 days pregnant doc knows I'm pregnant and checked with pharmacist that they're ok in pregnancy but I just can't help but worry, I had a miscarriage in October last year and that was a week after taking a course of antibiotics ((we didn't know at that time I was pregnant)) but I'm just so I'm so worried I've googled and they are apparently safe to use in pregnancy, and if I don't take them I could risk miscarriage/preterm labour from the infection so I'm just in a can't do right for doing wrong situation! Can anyone help put my mind at ease and tell me they took flucloxacillin in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy and everything was fine?!
Thank you so much and I'm so sorry for the rant ! xx

Your fine.

Sorry for your loss and congrats!

Your doc wouldn't give you anything you weren't allowed in pregnancy. They also double checked!

I can’t remember now as it’s quite some time ago but honestly, taking antibiotics like fluclox, if required during pregnancy, is perfectly safe

Thank you @Jedstre I'm greatful for your replies x

Hey, out of curiosity, what was the infection?

I've been prescribed this at 18 weeks as they found an organism during a cervical check 4 weeks ago, but they haven't said what the organism is!

Thanks 😊

@Beth98 hi Beth, it was for a vaginal infection (flucloxacillin is for skin infections) so I'm presuming it was a vaginal skin infection like inside? I remember the test result swab I had done coming back as staphylococcus bacteria.

@Beth98 an "organism" is another word for bacteria, so just means you have some type of bacterial infection down there, and the flucloxacillin will clear it. I did extensive research on all of this during my last pregnancy as I ended up taking loads of antibiotics! 😂

I took antibiotics in my first trimester and my baby is now a lively ten year old. You can’t have all antibiotics - my GP at the time said that I really needed a stronger antibiotic because I had a very bad sinus infection but they couldn’t prescribe the one they would have normally prescribed due to me being pregnant. So they absolutely do check and do know what is safe and what is not.

Thanks! I was told today that mine was Staph too, but what causes this? Google doesn't offer a definitive answer and I'm confused as to how I've got this in a vaginal swab!

I also have a staph infection. Was everyone ok after taking antibiotics? I'm a little worried

Hiya yes all was fine I ended up having 3 courses because it didn't clear, I came to understand it's very common in pregnancy and lots of women take them due to the same sort of infections. Hope this helps stop the worrying (I know what it's like lol)

@babybear22 thanks for the reply!
They have new different course if abx. Do you remember what symptoms you had with the infection? Wondering if we had the same.
