Hi, I’m 33 weeks and last had a growth/reassurance scan 3 weeks ago where sonographer was confidently saying that she looked set to be a big baby with high measurements. As someone who has had miscarriages I took a great degree of comfort in the baby measuring more than a week ahead.
I visited a different hospital yesterday for a placenta check and they also checked baby. The scan felt rushed and the sonographer was complaining about the position of baby, but on the screen I could clearly see his measurements coming up as a gestational age of 34 weeks +, which seemed on track with what I have seen before.
However when he wrote his report it suggested the baby had grown only a few
mm in 3 weeks and was now sitting at the 20th percentile. I was sent up straight to day assessment for CTG and to see a consultant. Blood flow and CTG was fine and the doctors weren’t worried- but my anxiety has made me absolutely terrified. Despite the doctors not concerned about the growth I left hospital being told be especially hyper vigilant about movements and come in immediately if there were any discrepancies- which suggests they are a bit worried? I don’t really know what to think.
My lovely community midwife is convinced the scan was dodgy and has put me in for a growth scan today at the hospital where I had my 30 week growth scan. This won’t be an ‘official’ scan as part of the monitoring, but to provide some reassurance (I hope). The placenta check hospital is going to book me in for fluid and doppler next week, then a rescan the following one.
I know 20th percentile is still normal but my bump is measuring ahead, she feels ‘big’ and her increasingly powerful movements suggest that she hasn’t only put on 1oz in weight. All fluid is at a normal level too.
has anyone seen a drop like this and have been fine?
