Pregnancy reflux please help

I am 17 weeks with my second baby.

I have had bad reflux previously - around 35 weeks with my first and outside of pregnancy when very stressed.

I know how to manage it - avoid certain food, drink milk, stay upright (even when asleep!) and take omeprazole.
Last week when it came on I recognised it as soon as I got the first chest pain and called my GP for omeprazole and to confirm they were happy with me taking it from 17 weeks.

I have now been taking it for 4 days, it is the early hours of Tuesday morning and I have not slept longer than an hour at a time since Wednesday last week, since that same point I have eaten a total of 15 digestives, 3 slices of toast and a boiled egg.

I am in pain (chest) and I'm exhausted. I feel utterly miserable and I don't know what else to do. I've just phoned our maternity services who basically said put up or go to a&e. It doesn't feel like an a&e issue but I need help. I don't even know why I'm writing here.

I think it definitely warrants an urgent GP appt in the morning. Maybe you need something more than omeprazole, especially as it is so drastically affecting your sleep and nutrition/eating.

Not sure what the "triaging" receptionists are like at your GPs, but make sure that when you call, you stress that you have intense pain, can't eat (not great in pregnancy obviously!!) and can't sleep at all. Don't make out it's less than it is. They need to sort this for you!

This is me at the minute, 27 weeks and it's awful. I vomit with the acid and don't sleep great either. I've been given omeprazole but they aren't doing much. I am able to eat/drink OK though. Do you take gaviscon as well? I find it's the only thing that helps a bit, I'm drinking the stuff by the bottle atm. Definitely seek help from gp as soon as you can, you go on like that. Stress you can't eat/drink and it's urgent. Wishing you all the best.

Thank you for the replies.

After a very long and miserable night I have managed to speak to my GP. I was convinced I was going to be fobbed off but it went the other way. Immediately doubled the omeprazole and added another medicine to help and signed me off for two weeks (which feels a bit much but I've accepted I should listen to them!)
