So i work with kids and chickenpox seems rife atm. My mum thinks i have had it but doens't seem sure!! I want to get a test to check - is this a possibility? It would ease my mind. Also, has anyone had it in pregnancy past 15 wks and baby been okay?

You can have a blood test to check if you have immunity, ask your midwife x

Is it not part of your standard booking blood tests in the UK?

I didn’t know I’d ever had them but the routine blood test when I was pregnant showed that I have.

I had chicken pox at 16 weeks, no body would commit to tell me how it would be but was told baby is already formed at 12 and it’s better now than at 37/39 weeks as you’d not want to be giving birth with chickenpox

baby was fine and fully grown

I did take antihistamine and i was pretty ropy with it, but got through

It’s not one of the standard booking in tests, but they probably could check for you to see if you have antibodies. After a recent midwife appointment, I was called to say that another woman in the waiting room had realised she had chickenpox, so could they have my permission to check my booking in bloods for immunity.

My kids caught chicken pox when I was 34 weeks pregnant. Called the midwife, who told me they keep a sample of your blood. So they ran tests to check for immunity in their lab.

I would call and ask if they can check for you.
