Bedding for summer baby?

I will be a FTM and am feeling totally clueless about what to buy for our baby due early July. What sort of bedding do I need for a summer baby? From what I've read baby sleeping bags are the best option but which tog level will I need for summer and how many will we need at a time? We don't have a dryer so it they need washing we'll be relying on sunny weather. Is there any difference in terms of safe sleeping between the cheaper ones from supermarkets and the more expensive brands? I expect our room to be pretty hot in Jul and Aug which is a bit of a worry but will of course try to bring the temperature down by oppening windows in the evening.

My DD was born end of May last year.
For the first few weeks, she’d really only sleep on me or DH so no bedding required. When she eventually started sleeping in her next to me (about 4/5 weeks old), we used a 1 tog sleeping bag. She wore either a vest or sleep suit underneath, depending on the temperature that night. We continued using it until November when she outgrew it.

I used Which to find a sleeping bag that they said was "safe". I can’t find the article now but there were some that didn’t meet their safety testing. Either the neck hole was too big or arms, so theoretically baby could slip under. Looking back, DD moved so little that I’m not sure this would ever have been a real concern but it wasn’t worth taking any chances for me.

I think this was the first sleeping bag we used. It was great and has poppers under the arms to make sure it fits well.

You can get a 0.5 tog sleeping bag, we just used a extra large muslin and did a swaddle with arms out, DD was born early June

ds2 was a June baby in a heatwave 0.5 or 1 tog is best for summer. Can dress them in nappy / short sleeve body suit / sleepsuit depending on how hot it is.

they tend to be more expensive but the Grobag ones are the best (you can get them cheaper in tk maxxx usually) as a Previous poster said some of the ones that are sold don’t meet the safety criteria
