Early scan (4 weeks 6 days)

Hello,

Im hoping somebody can share with me any experiences of an early internal scan. As of yesterday I assumed I was 4 weeks 6 days pregnant going off my last period date.

Yesterday I was sent to the EPU after right side abdomen pain and some mild bleeding. They did an internal scan and were able to safely rule out an eptopic.

The only thing they could pick up was some fluid in my womb, which they said is an indication of a very early pregnancy/ virtually a baseline to indicate a pregnancy in the womb. The doctor said she wasn’t bothered about my HCG levels as I am so early, my pelvic area is fine, ovaries look good and no sign of fluid in my tubes. She has asked me to come back next Friday for another scan.

There isn’t a part of me that thinks my dates are wrong, my periods are regular and I know I ovulated on good Friday. My concern is that should the pregnancy be more visible by this stage? Has anybody else had a scan this early or anything sooner?

The Doctor was very reassuring that this is completely normal, and up until this evening I was calm but now I’m back to over thinking. I’ve had previous losses so anxiety is generally a lot higher.

It would be great to here from anybody else :) I’m worried that I don’t generally feel “pregnant” and only symptoms so far are constantly peeing and waking up twice a night. No sore boobs yet or nausea.

thank you x

This is an extremely early scan. We had one at 7 weeks and were able to see the heartbeat and 'pole'. Tiny though so I'd imagine at 4 weeks there isn't much to see

You're very very early, hopefully by next week you should at least see a sac. I wouldn't worry as you are so early. The earliest scan I've had was at 7 weeks and even then it was only very small.

Extremely early don't worry! 7/8 weeks seems to be when things start to become visible

Hey

I had a scan at 4 weeks something and they couldn't see anything either. I've since had one at 6 weeks and they could only see a sac and feral pole.

It's far too early to see anything.

Definitely too early to see anything at this stage. Not sure you’ll see much on Friday either. But this is nothing at all to be concerned about. 6/7 weeks + is when you will start to see more.

Don't worry.
