Weird pregnancy symptom

Has anyone had this weirdly specific pregnancy symptom..

I have a heightened gag reflex…

didn’t affect my first pregnancy (boy)

but both my girls currently 20w with a baby girl. I’ve not been able to see something gross or hear something gross without dry heaving, for example my FIL burped whilst talking to me once and I gagged, there was something at the bottom of my tea and I gagged and today my sister told me about her infection and I was sick in my hands 😵‍💫 it’s so weird

Yes, with both boys and girls

Yup.. that's how I knew I was pregnant this time. It's the weirdest thing. Taking my vitamins in the morning sounds like a dinosaur roaring. And brushing my teeth is another retch-fest. I usually don't actually throw up, it just sounds awful!
Husband thinks it's hilarious

Had this in first pregnancy when brushing my teeth

Yes, normally have no problem cleaning up after dog when she had been sick but when pregnant it made me gag for hours afterwards. I normally have a strong stomach.

PeaceLily2000 · 06/05/2022 22:49

Yes normal - I gagged at everything (weird smell in the bin, the dishwasher etc).
My mum developed this in pregnancy too and still gags brushing her teeth 35 years later. Luckily for me, mine returned to normal post pregnancy xx

Yes, with my DD. Brushing my teeth was hard work. In fact I can't really think about it for long because it makes me feel all shuddery and ...

Yes! At 6 weeks I gagged because I picked up an extension lead from behind a sofa and it was dusty. Also gagged just looking at my pet lizard (I imagine the body’s defenders system to eject anything harmful even prior to ingesting as reptiles carry salmonella). Strangest of all was gagging at photos of old furniture on fb market place. I could imagine their old, musty smell. Sadly, the cleaner at work had poor personal hygiene and would be in room multiple times a day due to covid measures of extra cleaning.
