Measuring 3 days behind at dating scan

Hey guys, I just had my dating scan and they measured me at 13+2 although by my dates I’m meant to be 13+5. I was actually measuring 2 days ahead on a private scan a few weeks ago. Everything looked good on the scan, though, including baby’s heartbeat and organs. Is this normal? It’s my first time getting this far along in a pregnancy as i have a past of recurrent miscarriages. Baby was moving a lot in the scan though, could this have affected the measurements? Also I’m waiting for a blood test to look at Down Syndrome etc now which can only be done before 14 weeks right? I actually had thought I would be 14 weeks by now after my private scan.

Totally normal to be out afew days either way op.

I had IVF so I knew down to the minute really and I still measured out at my 12 weeks NHS scan.

Thank you, the scan was rushed as well tbh, and baby was moving around a lot too.

Hey, I was put back 6 days on my 12 week scan and was told a week either way is absolutely normal. A private scan at ~15 weeks added 5 days back on, and then at my 20 week scan this week they've kept me at my EDD from the 12 week scan (ie 6 days behind dates). Completely get why you're worried - it's scary being 'put back' isn't it but promise it's totally normal xx

Yes, as pp

hospital: you’re showing as xx weeks/days pregnant.
me: no, that can’t be right. I’m a few days different to that.
hospital: it is right.
me: but i had iui, i know EXACTLY when i conceived.
hospital: i’m afraid that isn’t relevant.
me: …?

Perfectly normal. We had sex one time in the fertile window we conceived this time and the hospital have moved me back by a week based on a couple of mm on my 12 week scan. Currently arguing with them as it affects the date of my elective CS (I have pointed out that unlike them; I was actually present at the conception…) annoying but not anything to worry about in the absence of any other concerns :)

Totally normal, although I get the worry. I was dated 4 days behind with my current pregnancy. It did worry me but I am now 27 weeks pregnant with a baby measuring right on track.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Best way to describe it is that the same way that every baby won't be the same height and weight at birth they also won't be the same dimensions at 12weeks. They just have to have a scan that they base dating on, if you had your scan a week earlier or a week later it may have been different but totally normal. Congratulations on your pregnancy, I hope you manage to enjoy the 2nd trimester I know the 1st trimester can be hard after previous losses ❤️
