Baby movements

Hi, I'm 27 weeks pregnant tomorrow and my baby seems to have a few hyperactive days then goes quiet for a few days, does anyone else have this?

It worries me and I never know when to ring triage cause I know that usually in a couple of days he'll be back to strong kicks/movements. On his quiet days I still feel him but much less often and not as strongly as on his more active days.

I have a fundal placenta so don't think it's anything to do with the placenta position. I did wonder, though, if it could be when he has his back to my front and he's kicking my insides rather than my belly?

I think for piece of mind i would definitely go in for monitoring, the staff there dont mind one bit and its better to be safe than sorry x

@Bunglemom Thanks for your reply. I just feel like if I rang triage every time his movements changed I’d be ringing every few days x

I know, my first baby was the same! I just think they would rather have you every day rather then not at all

WildflowerPetals · 06/05/2022 12:19

@Bunglemom Yeah that’s true! I spoke to my husband about ringing triage and since then baby has started wiggling around, I think he’s just awkward haha x

This is literally me! Baby was always quiet through pregnancy up until last Sunday, now I get super active days, super quiet days, super quiet mornings, super active evenings. Really makes it difficult without a pattern as the first thing anyone says is to go to triage (which is correct just in case). I’ve been four times this week and baby has been fine, they think it’s just the position of the baby changing constantly!

WildflowerPetals · 06/05/2022 15:36

@Vimto1991 It’s nice to know it’s not only me! It’s so hard to know what to do cause they say “if baby’s movements change” to ring in, but what if your baby’s movements change all the time 😅 x

@WildflowerPetals yeah it’s so difficult when baby decides not to have a pattern, it makes me feel on edge every day, then has me thinking is this reduced or increased. These babies love to have us on our toes, and I think the NHS should have a slightly different approach. 🙈

I'm 27 weeks tomorrow and exactly the same. I went to hospital last Saturday for reduced movements - baby was tucked away and all ok. Has a few crazy days with movement and now she's quiet again! I'm half considering ringing again as not felt anything yet this morning so going to get jumping around and see if I can feel her!

BabyOnBoard90 · 07/05/2022 09:12

@WildflowerPetals we are currently at 40+4 and we still have this pattern.

She'll have day or two moving like bad child, and the next day she'll be asleep most of the day and hardly move.

They don't really tell you about this - but it makes sense as they're humans not robots who kick and move on the same pattern every single day.

WildflowerPetals · 07/05/2022 16:08

@Vimto1991 I think they should as well but I don’t know what different approach they could take 🙈 x

@wishuponastar1988 I had covid a couple weeks ago and was fretting about baby cause he hadn’t moved much, the midwife came out and checked his heartbeat and everything was fine, she said he was in a funny position but they say that every scan/heartbeat check I’ve had, I think I just have an awkward baby! Haha. Have you rang them today or did you feel her move? X

@BabyOnBoard90 Exactly, it seems strange that they tell you to look out for pattern changes but surely most baby’s don’t have much of a pattern. Like you say, they’re only humans like us and we don’t do exactly the same thing every day so why would they x

@WildflowerPetals I felt her move later this morning and she's been going all day! How are you doing?

WildflowerPetals · 09/05/2022 07:47

@wishuponastar1988 Oh good 😊 I'm good thanks, been feeling/seeing him move fairly regularly - I've noticed if I sit and watch my belly he's actually moving a lot more than I feel! X
