Does anyone have any positive or successful ecv/baby turning stories they can share with me or any advice on how to get my breech baby to turn within the next day ? 🥲😂 much appreciated!!

Is this your first baby? I ask only because my second baby was found to be breech (by scan, everyone thought he was cephalic by palpation) at 36 weeks. I was told second+ babies can have a tendency to turn late. Fortunately, that's exactly what he did. I happened to have a scan at 36+6 that showed he was head down. I didn't feel him turn, but I think it was the night before, as my heartburn had magically disappeared when I woke up that morning.

One of my colleagues also had a breech baby that turned by themselves and didn't know it. Except they found out on the day of their elective C-section! No idea if they'd attempted ECV.

Fingers crossed for you today.

I'm mid 50s now, I have a rather stubborn streak.

When my mother was pregnant I was breech, this is before ultrasound and something a GP would not do now but my mother's GP manually turned me.

On the walk home my mother felt me turn back.

A few days later the GP turned me again and had my mum rest for 30 mins before she went home, feeling me turn back.

After the third time the GP said I obviously didn't want to be head down so left my mum to get on with her pregnancy.

I turned two days before she gave birth.

As I said I have a stubborn streak, oh and in answer to the other poster, I was her second.

Good luck OP

I had a successful ECV with DS2, I felt really worried about it because all anyone could say to me was that such and such’s cousin/sister/best friend had tried it and had a terrible time of it 🙄anyway it was absolutely fine! Mildly uncomfortable for a few minutes but he turned and all was fine.

Had the ECV today was quite painful and although she flipped she immediately returned but so glad I tried otherwise I always would have wondered! This is my first baby and I’m 37+2 which I think is what’s contributing to the nerves, Thankyou everyone for their stories and replies really appreciate 💖

@Clauren13 sorry to hear she flipped back around can I ask when you had your presentation scan was you offered all your options then or further app and what will your plan be now ? I am 35 weeks today and don’t have my scan until next Friday. Xxx

Clauren13 · 07/05/2022 06:30

I was scanned every 4 weeks from about 20 as they initially thought she was small but then around 28 they shifted their focus to presentation as they had never seen her head down - they didn’t go into it all until my last presentation scan which was 36+6 and they presented me with all my options and the risks of each one and their reccomendarions (breech vaginal birth , ECV, planned c section) I opted to try the ECV but asked for them to also book in a C-section just kind of for peace of mind and he gave me a date there and then for both! Hope this helps let me know if you have anymore qs at all! Good luck 💜

Great to hear the ECV worked, but rubbish that baby flipped back. She obviously likes being breech! Will they do another ECV attempt potentially followed by immediate induction, or are you going to have the elective now? When is the elective scheduled for? Best of luck with whatever happens next!

Clauren13 · 09/05/2022 12:13

He had already made a comment by how the amount of room and amniotic fluid I had wasn’t massively ideal for ECV but we decided to try anyway with me already being there etc so I think that’s probably why they haven’t offered to try again - she was clearly having absolutely none of it - so an elective section is booked for the 23rd and now just trying to make peace with that and try to find ways to make it as calm and special as possible! :) Thankyou for your reply 💖

Aw I'm hoping your DD is a mini me and will flip in her own time.

Good luck with the C section.

Best of luck with your section, I tried an ECV, but DS was stubbornly breech and I had a section, it was absolutely fine!
