Cervix bleeding any experience ?

I got checked out this morning at the hospital after my 3rd lot of spotting, I'm 17+2. There is never much but enough to make me worry, as obviously seeing blood during pregnancy is scary !
They checked my cervix and said I have a 1cm cervical etropion (not sure if I've spelt it correctly) I was told no Intercourse, squatting or straining. Has anyone else had one of these, did it resolve ? I don't really want to bleed throughout the pregnancy but it has helped knowing the cause of the spotting.

They also said they can't rule out it being my placenta until I've had the 20 week scan, but on my last scan they said it was at the back so unless it can move around ?

Anything else that can set off spotting with this issue ?

I've had this in two of my pregnancies and have two healthy babies. It was worrying every bleed but I had an eye kept on baby regularly. As far as I'm aware the cervix ectoproian is still there but I've heard others resolve at birth. I found I bled when I over did it, or sometimes after a bowel movement. Definitely after sex.

Take it easy x

I’ve had three episodes of spotting so far. EPU only do scans and don’t check my cervix, but I had cervical erosion a few years ago when on the pill so wonder if it could be that.

It’s a worry isn’t it? Has your spotting been fresh or old (brown) blood?

I had similar bleeding, an etropicon and vasa previa found at 20w (baby survived).
The etropicon resolved about 3 months postpartum.

I had this in my first pregnancy following lletz treatment nine months before. I have had it since then and last year it was treated with silver nitrate, so far so good and no spotting in my current pregnancy. I have been told no intercourse though so that I don't aggravate it and because I have a negative blood type, bleeding will mean I have to have an anti D injection

Always fresh blood but once it turned brown, it's usually always mixed in with discharge

I've only had sex once so far during this pregnancy and that was last week. But no bleeding afterwards ?

I had a lot of bleeding after examinations. I was on progesterone and also had the impression that the pessaries were irritating.
I was told no baths, no swimming, no sex at some point to avoid infection. Also no orgasms or vaginal examinations but that was because of the vasa previa.

It depends how sensitive it is, mine would bleed on touch, but also happened during my twelve week scan from the pressure of the scanner on my stomach.

Twizbe · 03/05/2022 21:31

I have one.

I bled in both my pregnancies and was told no sex, no overdoing it etc.

Mine hasn't resolved but it's been checked out and all is ok.

I haven't been having baths anyway so I definitely won't now. Also what about heavy lifting could that set spotting off ?
I also had spotting the day after my 12 week scan! She was banging on my tummy with the scanner and also getting me jumping up and down etc to encourage the baby to move, next day spotting !

You don’t have to stop baths yet! You will be told if you need pelvic rest.

Would flying be okay?

Twizbe · 06/05/2022 16:03

I flew with my first during the first trimester.

I didn't fly after that though just because I didn't want to / have to. They never said I couldn't.

MadameDragon · 06/05/2022 16:08

Flying is fine until they tell you not to. Just be careful that pregnancy is covered by your travel insurance.
