Bump has gone a weird shape

My beautifully round bump has gone weird!! Any ideas what this is all about? Wondering if it’s lightening, but google is not showing me pictures like this.

It's my understanding that they're not symmetrical because the baby isn't! Every bump is different. At the moment mine looks fuller on the left side because that's where her back and bottom are (28 weeks). But of course ask your midwife if you're worried - can you text her?

BurningBenches · 03/05/2022 12:38

How many weeks are you? I'd assume it was due to baby having moved to position where their back isn't against the front right now. As above I'd probably check with a MW.

gamerchick · 03/05/2022 12:40

Are you quite far on? Baby does shift position sometimes and lies back to back. Hopefully changing again before labour, back to back labours suck a bit. Ask your midwife if you're worried about position.

SeaToSki · 03/05/2022 12:40

Likely the baby has decided to lie on its back with both feet in the air and is scratching its ear. Give it a day or so and it might change again.

She was head down and back to my tummy at 34 weeks, but I have my next check up on Thursday. Maybe she has moved back to back then 😬

Lol @SeaToSki that did put an amusing image in my mind 😀

Bet it's because there's a baby in there.

TheDuchessOfMN · 03/05/2022 12:46

Probably not what you want to hear but that happened to mine, and dd had turned into the breech position

CurryandSnuggle · 03/05/2022 12:54

@TheDuchessOfMN oh dear! I guess I’ll find out on Thursday. Did your DD turn back on her own?

Probable she's just sticking her bum out in order to get more comfortable. ....

My (twin) bump was a very odd shape at times!

TheDuchessOfMN · 03/05/2022 12:58

Unfortunately she didn’t, I had a c-section to deliver her. I was 36 weeks when she turned, she had been head down before that. It’s meant to be that they turn head-down at 36 weeks, not the other way around 🤣
I remember having the most peculiar shaped bump. The head was on the top of the bump, the bottom of the bump was loose/empty.

I could be totally wrong, you know we shouldn’t diagnose on the internet. Even if your baby is breech, the majority of them will turn again. The midwives were very certain that she would turn, they said they almost always do

CurryandSnuggle · 05/05/2022 17:00

Thanks guys, had update. She is head down, 3/5 engaged. However I do have diastasis recti which the midwife said is probably why my bump has changed shape.
