Bleeding With Clots Around 6-7 Weeks

Hi all, I found out at the end of March that I was pregnant after a few years of trying. This is our first so obviously I've never experienced this before and I'm not sure what's normal and what's not. Going by my dates, technically I should be 12 weeks today but when we booked a private scan a week past Friday she said I was measuring 5-6 weeks but we weren't concerned because I'm extremely irregular (suspected pcos) so I could have ovulated at any point and 5-6 weeks could have been right.

Anyway fast forward to this morning and I woke up with heavy bleeding including clots and I've been a bit crampy the last couple of days. I called the hospital and they brought me in this morning and gave me another scan and it's hanging in there, still has a heartbeat etc but she said it hasn't grown as much as she would have thought. It's gone from 3mm 9 days ago to 4-5mm today, it's measuring in line with my app though so I'm not sure what to think. It honestly just feels like a period although the bleeding has slowed down now. The doctor said they'll get me back in ten days time for another scan but I just wanted to know if anyone has gone through this (particularly the not growing as quickly as it should part) and gone on to have a healthy baby?

Anyone?

Did they say anything about the bleeding being due to a subchorionic haematoma?

I think in your case it's super difficult because, as you say, you thought you were 12 weeks (at which point you would see a pretty well developed baby) but they measured you at half that. If you are actually 5-6 weeks, didn't they take bloods for HCG?

Yep, over 2 weeks ago and still haven't got the results back 🙄 not impressed with the system tbh, it's almost impossible to get in touch with my midwife and she hardly ever calls back, she was supposed to call me back almost 2 weeks ago and I still haven't heard anything. Had to call so many numbers yesterday to be able to speak to the right person about going in and it took me an hour and a half. (EPU was closed due to it being a bank holiday).

The bleeding slowed a bit last night but it's back with more small clots today accompanied by pains that feel like what I'd imagine mild contractions to feel like. Got an appointment next Tuesday for another scan but it's not looking good tbh 😔 and no they didn't mention that, they just said I could be bleeding for any reason which was helpful 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think heavy bleeding, clots and lots of cramps, coupled with the dates confusion, small size and slow growth unfortunately sounds like an early miscarriage 😓
I'm sorry you're going through this with what seems like very little support on the medical side.

It does sound like a miscarriage to me.

Even with a heartbeat yesterday? The cramps stopped about an hour ago after I went to the loo, could it have just been constipation? I know that doesn't explain the bleeding but that's slowed down dramatically too. I guess it's just a waiting game but it's so frustrating!

Yes unfortunately there's not much to be done aside from waiting for the next scan and bloods.

Fingers crossed that we're wrong and everything works out!

Just to let you know it wasn't good news. I had a miscarriage last night and had to spend the night in hospital 😔
