Hair colouring - What do you do when pregnant

I believe that when someone is pregnant it is advised not to colour your hair.
I am a dark blond and my hair has light blond colour (with no acetone). Saying this as the har grow, the roots do look much darker.

What have most of you done if you have been colouring your hair that is, before the pregnancy?

I coloured as normal tbh.
Just be aware your hair might not take aswell due to hormones

I used a box permanent dye last week to keep me blond(ish). No issues with the colour not taking or sensitivity or anything.
It's fine!

You are fine to dye your hair during pregnancy. It can affect how the colour takes to the hair and your scalp may be more sensitive so do patch tests

Just carried on as normal, hair was no different.

Coloured mines when pregnant. Now have a Bonny 6 week old healthy girl! Xx

Cakecakecheese · 02/05/2022 19:02

The NHS advice is that it's fine to carry on dying your hair.

Carried on as normal with foils.

LondonQueen · 02/05/2022 19:10

I had mine coloured as normal and my DC are both perfectly healthy.

whatuser · 02/05/2022 19:11

Do you mean bleach instead of acetone?

cdba88 · 02/05/2022 19:34

What do you mean? There's no advice that states you need to do anything different.

My high lights went really weird and spotty when I had them done when heavily pregnant . Also in another pregnancy used a dark brown box dye and my hair stated that very dark colour for over a year all over so I think the pregnancy hormones can affect how the dye turns out

What’s going on today? Are you the same poster that thought they couldn’t go to the cinema while pregnant?

What are you doing with acetone in your hair?

Magicfeet11 · 02/05/2022 19:57

Carried on as normal with my colour

almatitchmarsh · 02/05/2022 20:12

Not sure where that advice came frim but I didn't hear about it from my midwife so carried on as usual getting roots done every 8 weeks

20viona · 02/05/2022 20:14

Just get my hair done as normal full head baby lights and toner

Merryclaire · 02/05/2022 20:34

I have carried on as normal. Googling wasn’t helpful so I spoke to my hairdresser who reassured me it was safe.
