Hi. I was due on my period on Saturday 30th April.
I am late and still have had my period. I did a pregnancy test today 2nd May and it says not pregnant. Is this too soon to test maybe?
Please help

Just test again in 2 days. Either you're not pregnant or the HCG level isn't high enough to detect on less sensitive tests.

stuntbubbles · 02/05/2022 15:54

How are you tracking your periods? Are you due on because you usually have a regular cycle, or do you know when you ovulated and can confirm ovulation? It could be you just think you were due on then, but this month ovulation was delayed – any stresses recently, or the Covid jab?

mrsmc22 · 02/05/2022 16:01

I always track my periods and I'm never late. I have used the same tracker for 2 years now and I haven't had the covid jab ever.

No I haven't even had a covid jab and also track my periods via my app which I've always used.

Clear blue aren't that sensitive so may be too early. Test again in 2 days I would say xx

Regenbogen22 · 02/05/2022 16:56

Better to use a pink dye FRER test

Yes, sorry, a FRER is a First Response "Early Results" test. They're very sensitive!

Have you been taking folic acid or conception multivitamins? Because the two months I took those I was almost a week late. When I did some research it is common that folic has acid can make you ovulate later and then AF arrives later.

No I don't take any medication or the pill at all.

I didn't get a positive in two pregnancies until I was 4 days late, wait a couple of days to see if your period arrives and if not, try again x

It's actually recommended to start while you're TTC because it takes a little time to build up a reserve in the body, and the very first few weeks of pregnancy are super important in terms of neural tube development. The quote below is from the NHS website but it's standard knowledge.

"It's recommended that you should take a daily supplement of folic acid when you're pregnant, or there's a chance you might get pregnant.

*You should take a 400 microgram supplement of folic acid every day before you get pregnant, and every day afterwards, up until you're 12 weeks pregnant. "
