Second time bump

I'm currently 7/8 weeks pregnant with baby number 2 and wondering how much sooner you got your bump in subsequent pregnancies? First time round I didn't show until about 18/19 weeks. I was still able to hide it until 25 weeks mind. I know every body and pregnancy is different I'm just asking so I can be prepared really. We didn't want to tell anyone until 20 weeks but I'm wondering if I'll have no choice 🤣

About 4-6 sounds about right. You might get away with hiding it until 20 weeks as you managed 25 weeks last time.

Although apparently the old wives tale that girls cause you to carry more weight all over and boys cause pure bump has now, on average, been borne out by science. So if you’re having the opposite sex you might carry differently.

I am 8 weeks tomorrow and people in my work are already speculating. Due to 2 past miscarriages I don't want to have to tell anyone other than close family until 20 weeks but there's only so long I can use the bloated excuse! In fairness with my first, who is a boy I was pretty big from before 12 weeks too, I used to get asked constantly if I was having twins!

I'm 15 weeks and have been noticeably pregnant for about 2/3 weeks. It's very difficult for me to hide now, even in baggy tops. I am usually a slim size 8/10 so any weight in fairly noticeable on me but I was able to hide if for longer in my first pregnancy, closer to 20 weeks.

I am 18 weeks with number 2 and still no visible bump! Just general overall bloat haha.

I'm 11 weeks and by then evening, I look as big as I did at 20 weeks last time

Oh dear looks like I should crack the maternity clothes out soon then 😆

First time around, I don't think I was truly showing until a few weeks into the third trimester. I was fine with my regular clothes, and only needed to size up a couple of pieces to cover the last few weeks. It was summer though, so I could get away with dresses a lot.

Second time around, clothing was already tight at 8 weeks. I needed maternity wear by the end of the first trimester as sizing up wasn't cutting it. I was visibly pregnant shortly into the second trimester. This time was winter, so needed leggings and layers.

Bump was/is: earlier, bigger and much lower 😂

I definitely noticed a difference - 14 weeks in each of these, the blue dress is with DD, the multicoloured one is second time around with DS (I am holding dresses against me in these, I was making a point of not wearing anything form fitting!)

Both of these were around the time I told work and by the second time I felt I needed to carry folders and things in front of my stomach when walking between meetings! I definitely found I filled out much quicker. That said I conceived DS when DD was 12 months old so I wonder if my stomach muscles didn’t get much of a chance to recover 😆

@RSmamaa I’m certain there’s something in it 🙈 DS is due in 2 weeks and depressingly I’m convinced it’s going to take so much longer to get back to pre pregnancy size this time around thanks to two pregnancies in 2.5 years!

RSmamaa · 03/05/2022 09:51

@ShadowPuppets bless you. I will probably be the same. First time I was breastfeeding round the clock and my bump had gone within 5 days. I don't think I'll be so lucky after my next birth!
