Thrush after PPROM

Obviously I will try and speak to my GP about this on Tuesday, but thought I'd ask here in the meantime.

My waters leaked (very minor and has now stopped) just over a week ago and last weekend I was put on quite a high dose course of amoxicillin which I'm still taking. I'm 35+5 and being induced at 37 weeks.

I'm starting to get symptoms of thrush, and I had it a few months ago after antibiotics for a UTI and was prescribed pessaries. However, I'm assuming that since my waters have leaked, pessaries aren't an option, since ideally nothing should be going inside? I know tablets aren't ok in pregnancy, so does anyone know if there is any treatment? Do I just have to wait until after I give birth? It's already pretty uncomfortable and I still have 3 days left of antibiotics, then 6 days until induction.

Hi @SickAndTiredAgain, I hope you had a good outcome your your birth?
Did you ever get an answer re: meds for thrush? Im in a similar situation except I PPROMed at 21wks. I was given a course of antibiotics and now have rebound Thrush. We’re you allowed to use canesten? The midwives don’t seem to have an answer for me.

Hi @OutFortheBirds - sorry, I never got an answer. It actually seemed to go away on its own in a couple of days so it wasn't an issue and I never needed to speak to the GP.
Good luck with your pregnancy! Sorry I can't be more helpful.

No worries at all - I do appreciate you getting back to me.

Antibiotics are like standard after PPROM. I was told it will give the membrane a chance to self-healing. You are already W35, so it's comforting that you and ur baby will be fine.
