Maternity allowance for Self employed

Just filled out the form for maternity allowance. I’m self employed (sole trader for 5 years) with up to date NI payments and returns. I was under the impression I have to evidence 13 difference payments across the 66 week eligibility period, but it’s only asking for my MATB1 form. Is that all it will be? Is it all just calculated on my tax returns? (Only asking as if not, I need to schedule a few more payments as I get paid in big chunks really sporadically).

It's based on your class 2 NI contributions rather than pay in a particular period.

Brilliant, that’s great. Thank you.

Earnings are irrelevant if you are self employed. Even if you made a loss you are entitled to MA.

Fantastic, thank you. I wasn’t SE last time I did this so it’s all new.
