im just looking for some clarification, going from my LMP i should be 6weeks according nhs calculator (other apps say 7 weeks 😳) but after an early scan on monday i am measuring only 5 weeks 3days both the gestational sac and yolk sac could be seen but no fetal pole.

the technician said this is all she would expect to see at the estimated gestation and simply said “it’s just to early to see little one at the moment”

the evening after having the internal examination i began bleeding, almost like a very light period (watery blood) which lasted around an hour or so which after turned into dried blood discharge which was visible only on wiping.

i returned to my early pregnancy unit where they took my bloods for my hcg levels and are taking them again tomorrow. i also had a cervical examination where the gynaecologist said my bleeding had stopped and my cervix was closed which is a good sign.

since my cervical exam i again have been bleeding but only noticeable on wiping, ive been wearing a pad just in case but it’s catching nothing it’s only when wiping i will see the blood which ranges from red(watery) to brown in colour and clears after 2 or 3 wipes, i have also noticed a little discomfort under my ribcage and lower back and my stomach as a whole just feels tender and sensitive (without the touch).

im not sure what i want from this post i just want to hear if anyone else has had this experience and what their outcome was because google is not my friend x

Hey, I'm so sorry you are going through this. If it brings you any comfort I am currently going through the same thing. How are you getting on ?
I went for an early scan Monday, thought I was 9+1 (according to LMP/due date calculators) but scan said only measuring 6+1 and no yolk sac or fetal pole. They said it was too early to call it but likely miscarriage. I started with slight spotting which since the internal scan has turned into a light period? But still no pain. Don't know what to think tbh 😔

Raindrops2015 · 28/04/2022 11:31

Internal scans and cervical exams can cause some bleeding.

cgou1 · 28/04/2022 11:40

i have been for my bloods this morning my HCG levels on tuesday were 3966, ive had more blood taken this morning and i will hopefully hear by 1.30pm what my HCG levels are doing, im still getting blood on wiping (ive added a picture) still no cramping, clots or tissue so im hoping this is a good sign x

Fingers crossed your HCG levels come back OK! It's normal to have a bit of light spotting like that so could be OK. At 5 weeks it's difficult to see much on the scan. I have my fingers crossed for you.
My bleeding is like a period so not holding out much hope tbh.

cgou1 · 28/04/2022 15:22

well ive got the results back but not what i wanted 🥺 my HCG level has risen but no where near as much as expected it’s gone from 3966 to 4472 in 48 hours which is probably about a 12% increase.

i have to go back on saturday for a repeat blood test and the nurse actually said she is expecting a significant drop as with the scan only showing a gestational and yolk sac but no fetal pole the pregnancy might not be progressing and with the bleeding she thinks my body might be doing things naturally.

as they have risen she said she can’t say for definite what’s happening but to prepare for the worst and they will decide after my results on saturday wether I will need my rescan on thursday x

flowerj have you contacted your epu again? what’s your next steps?it’s such a worrying time and im here if you want to talk x

OP posts:
FlowerJ · 29/04/2022 07:26

So sorry to hear this 😢

I've not spoken to the EPU since I went on Monday. At the time they rebooked me in for a scan next Wednesday, so just waiting really. Bleeding is slowly increasing though, no pain or clots but I'm pretty sure this is the start of the miscarriage process tbh. The wait is horrendous, you just want to know so you can pick yourself up again. I go from breaking down in tears to just feeling numb. I also still have some pregnancy symptoms making me feel grim. Thank you, here if you want to talk too x

cgou1 · 29/04/2022 08:09

it’s such an awful experience isn’t it and i honestly think it’s the waiting in limbo that makes things worse because your left wondering what if for days 🥺 my bleeding has stopped for over 12 hours now just little markings on wiping but im not sure I could even say that it’s blood on wiping it’s like a pink/peach discharge.

have you had your HCG levels checked or anything? it’s a good sign your not passing clots that what the gynaecologist told me x

OP posts:
FlowerJ · 29/04/2022 10:07

The limbo is definitely the worst part. I feel like I can't accept anything yet because there's always that tiny shimmer of hope despite knowing in my heart it's a MC.
Hopefully it's a good sign that your bleeding has slowed down, could have been just caused by the internal examination?
No they didn't check my HCG levels, think they said it's something to do with before 5/6 weeks you can't see much on scans (which is normal) so HCG levels are a bit of a better indicator of what's going on. For me (6-9 weeks) they know what they should be able to see on the scan so that in itself is a good enough indicator of whether you are having a MC or not.
Yeah I've not passed any so far 🤞 The bleeding seems to have tailed off a little today x

cgou1 · 29/04/2022 11:10

i did start to believe that i just had my dates wrong and that the bleeding was caused by examinations and irritating my cervix.

but now all this with the slow rising HCG levels and everything ive read online indicates that slow rising HCG is i sign of impending miscarraige, i am slowly loosing all hope 🥺 but it’s lovely having someone to talk too.

im glad your bleeding seems to be slowing too! it seems like ages away until our next scan though doesn’t it 😢

OP posts:
FlowerJ · 29/04/2022 12:15

That's what is awful about waiting isn't it, I go between having hope and thinking my dates are just wrong to kicking myself for having any hope because why would I be bleeding, have no symptoms and be measuring 3 weeks behind? 🥺 It's mentally exhausting.

It is lovely to have someone to talk to, it's such an emotional rollercoaster.

Seems forever away doesn't it, I want it over with but also don't want it to come because I know what they are going to say 🥴 Are you back tomorrow for bloods ? X

cgou1 · 29/04/2022 12:50

yes back tomorrow for bloods but i have just started bleeding again and started passing clots so looks like my body is choosing to do things naturally x

I am sending a big hug x

FlowerJ · 29/04/2022 17:33

@cgou1 Let me know how you get on tomorrow. Oh no 😔 I know it won't help much but I have seen people say they've passed clots and everything has still been OK, so I do have my fingers crossed for you.

@RMS0209 Thank you, very much appreciated x

cgou1 · 30/04/2022 14:23

blood levels have started to drop and i have started bleeding and cramping over night, the nurse has confirmed that it is a miscarraige - we are still needed to attend the scan on thursday to make sure my body’s doing what it’s supposed to i presume, it just wasn’t meant to be this time but it won’t stop us from trying again 💗😇

good luck @FlowerJ keep me posted i will have all my fingers crossed for you x

@cgou1 im so sorry to read this, I'm here if you want to talk.

Thinking of you! Flowers

Tacoboutit · 01/05/2022 08:10

Hi @cgou1 - I’m so sorry to hear about your MC. I went through something similar to you last year, also a ‘natural’ MC. Please take some time off work. You can self-cert for a week then get a GP note for more time. I took 3 weeks and despite feeling I could return to work after 2, I’m glad I took the 3. Cry and let it all out. Don’t try and hold it in. Did the healthcare staff give you any pain relief home? If you have any questions about anything, please let me know x

Sorry to hear about your limbo @FlowerJ - I hope you get some answers soon and they’re a positive outcome x

FlowerJ · 04/05/2022 17:15

@cgou1 How are you doing? Do you still have your scan tomorrow ?

I've been to EPU today and they confirmed I've had a miscarriage. I've been bleeding heavy for over a week with labour type contractions/cramping for the past 4 days and this morning about 2 hours before my scan I passed the baby/gestional sac so I wasn't surprised when they said I'd naturally miscarried and nothing was left.
Also had my 12 week scan appointment through this evening so that's an extra kick in the teeth.
Don't even know how I'm supposed to feel, it's such a wave of emotions.

@Tacoboutit Thank you for the well wishes
Xx

FlowerJ · 04/05/2022 17:16

That should have said gestational sac*

cgou1 · 04/05/2022 17:30

@FlowerJ yes still have my scan tomorrow, i am still heavily bleeding with lots of clots so i know im naturally miscarrying.

im so sorry to hear that and i am here if you need anything, i had my 12 week scan appointment through the post on saturday when they confirmed my HCG levels were dropping its an awful smack in the face isn’t it ☹️

if you don’t mind me asking how did they perform the ultrasound my anxiety has been going through the roof because im bleeding so heavily and i am terrified they are going to perform the internal ultrasound and im going to bleed everywhere x

So sorry! I thought I started a thread.

FlowerJ · 04/05/2022 19:14

@cgou1 Yeah that is how I felt, I just knew I was MC naturally.

Thank you, the same goes for you, if you need anything please just ask, I'm here to talk to 🌸

It's a real smack in the face isn't it. I just had an odd feeling it was going to arrive and then the text came through today. I'd rather have not known what date it was going to be as I know it'll bring up a whole host of new feelings on the day. Don't know whether I should be contacting them to say I won't be coming? 🤷‍♀️

No really I don't mind you asking any questions, I know how you feel and it's awful feeling alone in this terrible journey.
They did the scan internally, they didn't even bother with abdominal this time so I wouldn't bother drinking loads beforehand etc. I was still bleeding heavily too, I told the nurse beforehand and she said it was fine. I just tried to wipe before laying down on the bed and I didn't notice any blood dripping anywhere. The sonographer was totally unphased by any blood. So please don't panic, it was fine ❤ xxx

That's OK, don't worry 🙂 My advice would be to retest in a couple of days, first morning urine so you've the best chance of getting a clear result. It may just be too early. Your symptoms are those that could be AF but could be pregnancy. I hope you get the result you want and I hope you get some answers on your thread 🙂 x

FlowerJ · 13/05/2022 22:43

@cgou1 How are you getting on?

You've been in my thoughts 💐

Hope you are doing ok xx

cgou1 · 19/05/2022 07:13

@FlowerJ hello, i am ok thank you how are you? i went to the scan and there was nothing left, id passed everything naturally. i stopped bleeding on the following sunday (8th) im yet to do a test, i know I need too but too nervous too, we went back to TTC immediately after i stopped bleeding (didn’t follow the 4 week rule 🙈) xxx
