Hi,
So I'm 40+1 and had a scan today to check growth and progression as we have had some problems throughout pregnancy. Consultant attempted to do a sweep but my womb is still closed and he has not fully engaged although scan shows he is on a good head down position. Did anyone else experience this and how long until labour started?
I am booked in to be induced next week but still hoping things might move along naturally sooner. I am currently spending most of my time on the exercise ball but not sure what more I can be doing. This is my 2nd pregnancy. My first baby came day before her due date so never experienced the anxiety of going over I feel for all of you that have gone to 42 weeks.

With my 2nd they tried to do a sweep at 40 weeks but my cervix was to far back. However 3 days later I went into labour and had ds naturally. So hopefully the same will happen for you. Bouncing on the ball definitely helped during labour to speed things along as it was only 7 hours start to finish!

Currently 37 weeks with baby #3 and hoping it happens naturally.

Good luck! X

I went into labour spontaneously at 10 days over with my first, he was born by forceps in theatre the next day.

Can you look into accupuncture or aromatherapy? I'm pretty cynical but tried accupuncture, couldn't get booked for aromatherapy.

Best of luck!

I had a sweep last Wednesday at 39+4 because both me and the midwife felt I was close, but annoyingly I was only 1cm dilated and my cervix still quite short.

I'm booked in tomorrow for a 2nd sweep and for an induction on Saturday at 41 weeks. I've had no change since the first sweep, baby still very active and head very low down so sitting is extremely uncomfortable. Hopefully tomorrow's sweep will do the trick because I'm just exhausted!

Dd1 arrived at 39+6 so I've declared her the favourite child! 😂 (joking)

Raspberry leaf Tablets helped me along

MsSquiz · 27/04/2022 17:16

@Snoopy28x I've promised DH if the sweep doesn't work tomorrow, we can give that a go on Friday!

I shall report back!

May the force be with you!!

With my first we DTD early hours. Labour started 6am. Baby 2 DTD 9am labour started 2pm! The logistics get tricky towards the end but it's worth it! Haha x

I had 3 sweeps with my last baby, last week at 40+3 and I went into labour that night literally just after having sex. Sex put me into labour 100% as started pretty much straight away. They say sperm has the same hormone as the induction gel they use. Good luck

MsSquiz · 27/04/2022 19:32

Hmm, maybe we should give it a go tonight... it would be far more convenient for labour to start tonight/tomorrow morning as dd1 has nursery tomorrow but would require more childcare on Friday or Saturday! It's all about logistics! 😂

MsSquiz · 02/05/2022 13:51

So, turns out we didn't need to. Hospital rang to see if I wanted to be induced on Friday instead of Saturday and I said yes. Typically, contractions started 2 hours before I had to be at hospital anyway and by 3:20pm, dd2 had arrived 😁
