I've only recently realised I've got SI joint pain, it developed on my last pregnancy but just thought it was sciatica! I've always had it since and always blamed it on sciatica, even the doctors have! It's always a very specific spot on my lower back where I get these dull ache that eventually turns into a throbbing terrible pain. Sometimes goes down my leg too. Always starts in the same sitting position! Well last night for the first time I got it in bed, no matter what side I was on it was agony, pillow between my legs did nothing. Eventually I got the massive pregnancy pillow out and kind of suspended my back and that sent it off. Does this sound like SI pain ? And can I expect every night to be the same going forward ? I'm 16 weeks

Go to an osteopath, deep tissue masseuse or physio, they can help reduce the pain.

Look up Dom Tigny, he has some u tube videos on how to realign it, a physio I worked with pointed me in this direction when I was in agony and couldn't come into work (took 20 minutes to get down the stairs). At first twinge I do it in bed before getting out or before settling down to sleep if troubling me and instantly gives some relief. Basically bring knee to chest, out to the side, then bridge on that side whilst keeping opposite leg straight. I'm old but had trouble with it since first baby a long time ago. Hope that helps 💐

@Mossstitch Hello - in the middle of the night 4 days ago, I searched SI joint and this thread came up. I saw your suggestion about Don Tingy technique - you tubed it, followed along, and have not been in pain since. When I start to feel a niggle I do the exercises.

This is absolutely remarkable.

I have been in constant and chronic pain for the last four months.

Daily naproxen and codine since Feb that were no longer helping and making me feel awful. I was so down, so desperate to feel calm in my body.

Thank you so much - your suggestion has absolutely changed my life.

@jimmyeatworld I hope you find out what can give you relief soon too.

@Cherryana glad to help! Yes same with me, instant relief, you can almost feel it slide back in place can't you.......... Saves a fortune too and now if I feel a bit of a niggle at work (did try to do it there once and split my trousers😳) I just take one 200mg ibruphren, basically half a dose and that settles it within a couple of hours. 👍
