I'm wondering if mums who have had a c section can shed some light on something?

I had a Csection with a spinal and had zero after pains. With my previous children it bloody hurt!

So am wondering if the spinal may have blocked/dulled them? I'm not breastfeeding so not got that to instigate them.

Just really weird as was all geared up for atrocious pain - and nothing 🙃

I have 2 c sections and nothing. Didn’t breastfeed either. But I was given an oxycotin drip after birth so presumably that would have got things contracting. My guess is that between the spinal, the diclofenac and the oramorph I just couldn’t feel it!

I didn't but it was my first. Not sure how long they're supposed to last for but I was off painkillers quite soon and didn't have afterpains (other pain when they forgot to give me pain relief on time but not uterine ones).

I had no after pains after my (first) vaginal birth, but the pains after my (second) CS were horrendous. I remember laying in bed having to breathe through them, they were agony.

Thanks guys, i was worried it was just me. Also that my uterus wasn't shrinking as couldn't feel any pain 😄

I had an epidural with first and spinal with second.

I had no birth after pains - no feeling for some hours at all. Unfortunately then had several weeks of severe and constant pain as I recovered.

I had epidural and spinal on my first two and no after pains. My third was a natural birth and the after pains were horrendous. I had them for almost a week after and was vomiting with the pain. Never ever again!
