I have a small cousin called Erik and it suits him.
If it's growing on you, that's probably a good thing. I'd go for it.

ninedragons · 10/01/2008 11:20

I like it.

An Eric is friendly and honest.

TsarChasm · 10/01/2008 11:25

I agree. If it's growing on you then that's a good sign it's the right name.

If a name is unusual or uncommon then it will become his alone and he will define it with his personality iyswim.

My ds has an uncommon name. People were a bit bemused at first, but now 6 years on it means him and is associated with him alone. I'm glad we chose it .

I like it a lot, it's sort of geeky-cool.

I'm a fan of the historian Eric Hobsbawm, and would consider it for a DS of mine if my surname didn't begin with a C.

Carmenere · 10/01/2008 11:37

I have known some really sexy, cool Erics, I would say go for it

iMum · 10/01/2008 11:39

I like Eric alot, fwiw

Swedes2Turnips1 · 10/01/2008 11:41

I know an Eric, he is a perfect square.

MuffinMclay · 10/01/2008 13:58

Geeky-cool is good (dull, bad breath, skew-whiff glasses etc less so).

I don't like the Aric/Arik version at all, and 'A' names don't work with our surname.

Don't mind the French connection. This one was conceived in France.

Still can't decide if it passes the playground test though, but it is realy growing on me.

I am so exasperated with dh! After mulling over Eric for several days I decided that I rather liked it. I announced this news to dh, only to find that he was joking about liking Eric as a name.

The quest goes on and on and on....
