Cystic spaces on early ultrasound

Hi Mums, I just wondered if anyone has had similar to this - my early ultrasound (around 6 weeks) showed 'multiple irregular cystic spaces' in the cavity of the endometrium (which was noted as being heterogeneous). I'm having another scan next week as they still need to see the fetal pole is present (just yolk sac so far), and I think a consultant is going to do it because of these cystic areas. I'm panicking a bit!

Hello

Not quite the same, but similar. I don't want to scare you but equally I would like to share my experience. I was pregnant about 6 weeks when I started to have brown discharge, I went to EPU and they scanned me, they saw a gestation sack and yolk, no embryo then. I went back a week later, there was no baby. So it was a miscarriage. I opted for medical management. I passed the baby. Three weeks later, I was still feeling sick, tender breasts and my pregnancy test was still positive. By the time I got to EPU I was 4 weeks since passing the baby. When they scanned me, my womb was full of cysts. They asked me if I had sex since, I said no, because I was still bleeding lightly, more like a lot of brown discharge. They thought I had conceived again but it was partial molar pregnancy. They couldn't tell me why growth kept happening in the womb since passing the baby. I had surgical management after to remove the cysts. I really hope this is not the case for you. Take care.

Thank you so much for your reply and I'm so sorry that you went through that, it must have been so traumatic. Molar is what I was worried about to be honest. Do you mind me asking whether they tested your HCG levels and if they were particularly high?

They didn't test my HCG at the beginning, but after I went back in 4 weeks, my HCG was 217k, so yes, it was high - and there was no baby in the uterus

Thank you, that's really helpful. My levels were normal when checked last week, but then they didn't see the cysts last week, so I guess things may have changed in that time. Thank you so much for sharing - I'm finding the waiting for the next scan so nerve racking!

Bump - the latest scan a week later showed fetal pole with a heartbeat and normal-looking gestational sac. The cystic spaces near the sac were still there but I don't think they'd really changed and the sonographers seemed less concerned this time and didn't think it was typical of a mole.

Just bumping to see whether anyone else experienced anything like this?
