I likely have untreated anxiety in general but I still don't feel in the safe zone. I'm worrying endlessly about miscarriage and not able to enjoy things.

I'm 14 weeks +1 and don't have a scan for 5weeks and 1 day. I had a scan last Monday but it's the interim that scares me and makes me fear the worse.

Everyone can't feel this way. When did you feel reassured?

I felt the exact same. I am 25 weeks now and cautiously thinking this is actually happening. I was so worried between scans and the best advice I got from someone was that regardless of me worrying, what will be will be so I should not let my whole pregnancy be taken up by me being anxious about everything and to try and enjoy it. Things have got abit easier now I can feel her moving and kicking. When I was feeling worried I would look at scan pics and videos, listen to the heartbeat bear we had bought and look at baby stuff/buy baby stuff as it made it feel more real. X

Sorry forgot to add - after my 20 week scan I also felt abit better - knowing the sonographer was happy with how she was growing etc. I got my first movements at 21+5 too (anterior placenta) x

I never did feel like I was going to have an actual real baby. Not even when they were born.

I was happy once I got past 24 weeks because I knew then that at least I would get maternity leave and my baby would get a birth certificate therefore no one could deny that they existed. Babies existing legally helped me. Perhaps it might help you?

This is exactly how I feel right now, I'm 2 days behind you and cannot stop worrying about why my bump hasn't appeared yet, does that mean my baby is not thriving etc etc etc. It's awful, sending you big hugs

Firsttimetrier · 24/04/2022 20:32

@Herecomestreble1 dont worry about not having a bump at that stage, I and a few people I know had bumps from 16+ weeks. I never really looked pregnant until 20 weeks!

@Pregnantpolly it’s so hard to worry between scans, but you may start feeling some movement in the next few weeks which helps settle any anxiety.

However, I definitely found something else to worry about after the 20 week scan! I’m now 26 weeks and I’m worrying if I’m getting enough movement etc. Once I stop worrying about this, I’ll probably worry about the birth and that they arrive safely. After that, I’ll probably worry about SIDS, then anything else that could harm them.

Parenthood is fully of anxiety, so it’s worth raising this with your midwife so they can offer support.

@Pregnantpolly I've got bad anxiety about my baby constantly worrying and I think there is a massive gap between both scans so I've booked a private scan next week when I will be 18 weeks as I just want that bit of reassurance everything is ok so maybe if possible look into it to put your mind at rest

Allanxiousarentwe · 27/04/2022 16:09

@Pregnantpolly first of all congratulations. I feel exactly the same and was only wondering today when it will feel real. I'm just over 20 weeks and recently had my scan. After than I felt on cloud 9 but a few days have passed and I'm back to the "I really hope this works out" and "omg I so hope we get a real baby at the end of this" mentality. The wait between scans is so hard but I was too scared to book any additional ones. I've got another scan at 28 weeks and I felt so relieved when it was first booked, but I think in the lead up I'll be really anxious. I'm hoping once my bump appears and I get more frequent movements my anxieties will ease and I will feel more reassured! But you are not alone with how you feel. I have no tips or advice but I wish you luck and I hope time speeds up for you haha!

I was the exact same, I think its just part of early pregnancy. Only just starting to feel calmer more relaxed at 21weeks

Pregnantpolly · 27/04/2022 17:54

Ladies I am so glad that I'm not alone in feeling like this. It's just hard at times. I feel like having a bump would help things seem real.
