Okay so i never had chicken pox. I got the chicken pox vaccine in America when I was a baby ( 22 months ) I saw it in my records. I now live in the U.K., in my first pregnancy ( 2017) my brother got chicken pox while I was pregnant and I remember doctor putting 2 or three injections on my arm…but my gp said there are no records of me getting the vaccine which is weird but I clearly remember and my husband too…Anywayz , now that same 2017 baby is 4 and has chicken pox. I am 16 weeks pregnant. I have a one year old who is fine atm but I expect her to get it too as they are too close and do not keep away from each other no matter how much I try. Docs did my blood and said I never had chicken pox before and they want to offer me an injection I have to have in my “behind” , they said if my other child gets chicken pox I neee to have the same injection again😰
im just wondering if I was injected as a baby and I was injected in 2017 , arent I immune to it already ? The whole having a injection on my bum is freaking me out and if I don’t have to then I wouldn’t want to..

I might have immunoglobulin they gave as you wouldn't get the CP vaccine while pregnant

dementedpixie · 22/04/2022 13:45

You would have had to pay for the CP vaccine in the UK btw

Yes, this. Chickenpox is a live vaccine so you wouldn’t have had it when pregnant.

Can you not ask to have the varicella antibody test? I’ve not had chicken pox and had the varicella vaccine around 7 years ago!

I think they have done; she said the drs ran her bloods and told her she’d not had chickenpox before, which means the antibody test.

My family is telling me to refuse to get the injection back there that nothing will happen that back in the day ppl use to do nothing but I’m not sure I’m scared if I refuse how it will affect my baby

If its immunoglobulin then I'd get it
It won't be the CP vaccine
Its none of your families business what you do to your own body

I don’t want to scare you but back in the day people did nothing, and back in the day babies got very sick once they were born. Chickenpox in pregnant women is very serious for the baby.

If the medical staff say you should have it, then you should seriously think if you should have it. They know best. They want what’s best for you and your baby.
