6 weeks pregnant - cramping daily

Hi everyone! So I’m 6 weeks and 1 day pregnant today and I have had some common symptoms that I’m really pleased about as this is my first pregnancy and I would be worried if I had none. So far I’ve had sore/sensitive breasts, feeling sick when I get too hungry and cramping. The cramps have been daily since I found out two weeks ago though and I’m not super worried about it as I know cramping is normal but just with it being every day for two weeks I’m wondering if this is something to worry about at all or if it is common to be this much?

I have an early private scan booked for next Wednesday at 7 weeks which was supposed to be yesterday but they suggested moving it back a week for better chance of seeing something. I also had my first contact from the community midwives today to get some details and let me know that my appointed midwife will be in touch soon to book an appointment. However, until I actually do get to see someone and check on everything that’s going on inside, I’m paranoid that something isn’t right :(

It’s really common, I always felt like I was just about to come on my period and sometimes the cramps were worse than period pains.

Its just stretching pains, there’s a lot going on in there right now 😊

LampHat · 21/04/2022 20:01

Sounds totally normal to me. All the best for your scan and I hope it puts your mind at ease. I remember what a nerve racking time early pregnancy was Flowers

Ah this puts my mind at ease, thank you! Luckily so far they haven’t been any more painful than my period cramps, just more consistent! Honestly I’ve thought what if there’s more than one in there quite a few times because of how much I’m bloating and cramping haha

Thank you so much! I’ll be happy to see a blob where its supposed to be, and to know if its just one or more too. Yup, so nerve racking and I’ve only known 2 weeks😂Not wrote sure how I’ll get through the next 8 months sane haha

@CW2211 your message is very reassuring for me - thank you! I am 6 weeks 2 days today and I have had period pain like cramping just start yesterday! As it is my first pregnancy I was initially really worried but as it seems common (thank you all!), I am happy I am feeling it! I also have an early scan booked to put my mind at ease - good luck with everything!

CW2211 · 26/04/2022 08:26

@EMc222 I’m so glad it has helped you a bit! Congratulations, and thank you, I hope you get even more reassurance at the early scan like I’m hoping for! I’m the same when I feel nauseous it just reminds me that I’m growing a little human so I’m grateful for it and for the fact that I haven’t had to throw up yet so far😂when is your early scan? I have literally just finished doing my pre-scan questionnaire that was emailed through this morning as the scan is tomorrow!! So excited.

EMc222 · 26/04/2022 08:37

@CW2211 Aw congrarulations to you too! Exactly, I am also looking for signs and symptoms to be grateful for - fatigue being a big one! 😴 How exciting, my early scan is on Monday so I am also hoping for the same reassurance. It is a very odd feeling having nothing more to go on than a little line on a stick! I hope it all goes well for you - enjoy it 🥰

hopefully2021 · 26/04/2022 08:57

I'm glad I came across this, I've had the same - I'm 6 weeks today and have had daily cramps for the last 2 weeks to the point where I thought I was coming on my period (I didn't even test until I was 2 weeks late as I was convinced!). I haven't really had any symptoms yet apart from the cramps, a bit tired and bloated (even if I breathe in my belly won't go flat lol!)
I've got a private scan booked for next Saturday when I'll be 7+4 but I'm so anxious that theres nothing there even though I've done about 10 tests so far and have got 3+ on a clearblue digital
I don't know how I'm meant to get through to the 12 week scan being sane 🙄

EMc222 · 26/04/2022 11:14

@hopefully2021 It is an anxious time for sure, I totally understand! I don't know how I would go to 12 weeks without a scan! I guess maybe if I had more symptoms I would feel more reassured but, like yourself, I am just a little bit bloated and tired so sometimes I worry it is my head (I have felt worse after a big meal or a long work week!). Can't deny a missed period and a digital result though so I am sure it is normal anxiety we are feeling and we will be reassured at the early scan🤞Congratulations and I hope all goes well for you!

hopefully2021 · 26/04/2022 12:43

@EMc222 snap that's exactly how I feel - sometimes I'm not sure if I'm just imagining symptoms so its good to hear others feel the same 🙂I feel so on edge as it's taken so long to conceive that I just keep fearing the worst!
Congrats to you too & I hope your scan goes well on Monday - I bet you can't wait 😀

CW2211 · 26/04/2022 13:30

@EMc222 ah good luck for Monday then, I look forward to hearing an update about it! Yes it really is strange just having that positive line to go on although I’m grateful for that all the same.

@hopefully2021 firstly, congrats! And I’m happy to help put your mind at ease, also glad there’s others who have this cramping, it really helps to talk to you all! The bloating is the same for me, it was even kind of uncomfortable if I tried to suck it in and go flat which I normally could do pre pregnancy as I’ve never had a flat stomach but always wished it was haha, now I’m just hoping I’ll be able to see a bump soon and even glad to have some cushioning there for baby😂Good luck for your scan, I’ve also done about 20 tests (17 cheapies and 3 clearblue or first response) but still don’t really believe it until hopefully we see little blob on the scan tomorrow night.

Congratulations 😊 and just wanted to say it’s totally normal. I found out at 3.5 weeks and had sore boobs and awful cramps till I was about 11 weeks. My cramps would wake me in the night, would be really sharp and for about 2 weeks I walked around with a hot water in my leggings 🤣
i never got cramps when I had a period so it worried me a little bit but all is fine, I’m 17 weeks and have a very active little boy in there.
good luck with the early scan, it’s definitely worth it for the reassurance

CW2211 · 27/04/2022 13:07

@Samthenanny thank you :) and congrats on your little boy! The sore boobs are awful too haha they’re so sensitive. Ah yeah I see how you’d be worried if you never got period cramps, I’ve always had quite bad cramps when I’m due on so suppose I’m lucky that I’m used to the feeling haha and I’ve also heard that if you deal with bad period cramps labour is supposedly not as painful? Could be a total myth but I guess contractions might not be so bad compared to if you never had cramps.
Did you find out the gender just with a normal ultrasound or did you get an early one/blood test or anything if you don’t mind me asking?
thank you, only 6 hours to go and we’ll be about to have the scan!

OP posts:
Samthenanny · 27/04/2022 18:32

Ooh interesting fact about the period pains and labour.
we went for a gender scan at 16 weeks as we couldn’t wait 😊
how did yours go?

CW2211 · 27/04/2022 19:05

@Samthenanny don’t quote me about it I honestly don’t know if it’s true or not haha but it would be cool if it was!
Ah that’s nice haha I think I’ll be the same I’m so impatient.
Literally sitting in the car waiting to go in now our appointment is 7:15 so should be ready soon. I am terrified and excited and don’t know how to feel other than that haha but I’ll update soon!

@CW2211 good luck 🤗hoping all goes well xx

CW2211 · 27/04/2022 20:49

Update from our first scan!
Everything went well, baby is in the right place and has a yolk sac and little flickering heartbeat which is fab. Measuring 6 weeks 2 days and I’m 7 weeks today based on my last period so I’m assuming that’s alright and I’m not worried about the size as its still quite early so by 12 weeks it could be measuring bigger who knows. My partner said it feels more real for him now after seeing it but honestly other than feeling relived knowing everything is okay I still feel like its a dream! Thank you for all the lovely messages I’m so glad to have support like this from other mums/mums to be!

6 weeks pregnant - cramping daily

rickandmorts · 27/04/2022 20:58

I had cramps until 8 weeks, so many that I thought I was imminently due my period and didn't test until then 🙈 was a bit of a shock to find out I was pregnant! I'm 11 weeks now and they've settled down and I get the odd cramp or weird feeling in my tummy occasionally.

Namechanger355 · 27/04/2022 21:03

Am currently 5 weeks 4 days the second time- These constant period cramping sensations felt worrisome to me the first time around because I didn’t know what was going on but this time around are a relief for me.

wishing you all the best

Samthenanny · 28/04/2022 08:25

@CW2211 glad all went well at the scan, I remember the relief of seeing the tiny little heartbeat flickering away. Hope the cramps ease off soon for you

EMc222 · 28/04/2022 09:12

@CW2211 I am so glad all went well for you, it makes me more excited to go on Monday! I hope I get the same relief.

I am so glad I found this thread @Samthenanny @hopefully2021 @Namechanger355 @rickandmorts - these things need to be talked about more to help ease the worry that it is totally normal, so thank you! Good luck for all your pregnancies.

hopefully2021 · 28/04/2022 10:13

@CW2211 Amazing news! I'm so glad all went well for you 😀
@EMc222 I agree, it so helpful to come across this chat especially as I'm not telling any family or friends yet so it's nice to work out what is normal at this stage xx
