Low lying placenta at 32 weeks

Hello, new here :-)

I had a low lying placenta at 20 weeks which was covering the cervix.

At my 32 week appointment it had moved 1.6cm away.

I have another scan at 36 weeks. Has anyone had this and it’s moved enough by the 36 week scan? My midwife said they like 2.5 / 3cm away ideally.

Thanks xx

Mine moved but was less than 2 cm away, so I had a section at 36w.
I would suggest that you ask at the 36w scan whether they have ruled out vasa previa (needs a vaginal doppler ultrasound to check). I turned out to have vasa previa too.

I had a low lying placenta which was completely covering the OS. Scan at 28ish weeks suggested it had shifted a bit (though think still less than 2cm away at that time). 36 week internal scan showed that it had moved well out the way. I think the majority do move, so try not to worry too much - and if it doesn't, at least you'll know and be able to come up with a suitable plan.

Thanks for your reply. Hopefully mine does too but yes like you say at least I will know and can plan for next steps xx
