Hi all, I'm 35 weeks with baby 3, I'm determined to breast feed this time. I was just looking into breast pumps.

Will this help me?? Are manual ones are ok, also any recommendations for a good one.

Thank you x

Definitely go for an electric one. They are sooo much more convenient and definitely worth the extra cost. I just went with standard Tomee Tipee and it was fab.

Thank you for your reply. I tried with my first and only managed a few days as didnt really get any support. Baby 2 had a tongue tie and was so painful I couldnt bare it, but really regret not doing it. So hoping that a breast pump if at worst I struggle I can still use my breast milk.

Congratulations on your pregnancy Op!

I don’t think breastpumps are at all necessary for breastfeeding.

I’d save your money and buy one later if you need it, then you can get the one that best fits what you need it for.

In my experience I brought a Hakka after a few months when I just wanted to introduce small amounts of milk from a bottle to get baby used to taking one but didn’t want to replace feeds. That worked really well and was perfect for getting just enough for that.

I went back to work after 6 months and so brought a double electric pump for when I was at work.

I so would not have wanted to faff around with pumping in the early days! Having time to pump, sterilise everything and actually feed baby would have been really hard and I would of only done it if it was the only way of getting breast milk into baby and in that case a double electric pump would be much better than a manual one. But they’re quite expensive! So as above I’d save your money and see how everything goes first
