Strange pelvic area pain in first trimester

Hi everyone!

I’m in the first trimester with my second child and have been noticing a strange discomfort pain. This happens mainly after a lot of walking/on my feet and only when I then lie or sit down. I only feel the pain when I try to turn over in bed or try to get up again. I wondered if it’s pelvic girdle pain (PGP).

Today it has been the worst and I got a sharp pain, almost like a shooting pain, in the upper buttocks area on both sides when lowering my legs whilst lying down.

Has anyone had this before? I’m going to speak to my midwife on Tuesday when they open again unless it’s gets a lot worst before then.

X

Could be sciatica.

I had this, midwife referred me to physio and they said it was SPD. Mine was shooting down my leg from my right buttock but apparently it's only sciatica if you get numbness and tingling too.

Physio helps, also sit on a plastic bag in the car and swivel when getting out, keep your knees together.

Thank you for sharing! Keeping knees together really helps when rolling over onto my side or getting out of bed. I only really feel the pain after walking / being on my feet and usually at the end of the day. I never got this with my first so it’s left me feeling baffled! I don’t think it’s sciatica as there’s no numbness or tingling…

I’m not sure it is as I don’t have any other symptoms - it’s just in the upper buttocks area and shooting pain/aching around there when trying to turn over - it doesn’t go down my legs and just stays around pelvic area

Get an orthopaedic knee pillow, there's loads on Amazon and I found it really helped.

Mine started about 16 weeks and I was told that was early, and it never really got much better unfortunately until baby arrived. But I could still function, it was just really uncomfortable.

Currently nearly 20 weeks with 2nd pregnancy and haven't had it at all yet!
