Hi me & my partner have been together 4 & a half years we fell pregnant which was a total shock! I'm 40 hes 48. We had our 12 week scan the sonographer told us there's not good news had 11mm of excess fluid we were told that the fetal medicine team would be able to tell us more. So we met them they were lovely was told that its very high risk for downs etc they took my blood got a phonecall soon after was told that my chances for downs were 1 in 5. My partner during this time was distraught & was saying he couldn't love a child of his with downs 😔 I had mixed feelings during this time we had a fall out i shouted at him so I'm doing this alone am I? I went to work we didn't speak for a few days there's no way I could bring up a downs on my own! I made the hard decision to abort i contacted bpas we went through the process of picking up the tablets I was going in for the surgical by this time I was 14 weeks. Had to drive to Peterborough which is a 2 hour drive from us. We got there I had to go in alone because he couldn't get a free car parking space 🙄 & was near our appt time. Was very welcoming there but alot of waiting around because there was other women there. It was 2 hrs before they was ready to get me in the gown. The surgeon lovely guy think he is Irish told me what was going to happen, I did cry because it wasn't the fetuses fault. The ladies beside me were very calming to me made me feel at ease. I think it only took 5 mins could have been longer. I only bled a little got home had pain took ibuprofen but I slept so well first time in ages. Took some more ibuprofen when I woke up hardly bleeding next day. If anyone is considering using bpas do it they will take care of u 🙂 just wanted to share my experience
