GD test because baby measuring big

Has anyone else had to have a gestational diabetes test because their baby was measuring big?

I'm 28 weeks with #2, and having to have extra scans because my daughter was small (birth weight on 2nd percentile). Had my first growth scan today and baby boy is the opposite! Weight is on the 90th percentile and his tummy is on the 97th percentile! He weighs 3lbs 1oz already. Apparently this can be a sign of gestational diabetes so I've been referred for a glucose tolerance test.

I don't have any risk factors. Normal weight, no family history of diabetes, all urine tests normal ect so the doctor said he is probably just big 🤷‍♀️

Did anyone else have this and did you have gestational diabetes, or was baby just chunky?

Thank you!

I got told this both times. Both my babies turned out to be on the smaller side...

I had this. All turned out to be nothing, baby was barely 7lbs.

I had the test as my second was measuring big - they want to rule out any possible causes such as GD and also infection, I had an additional blood test too. Everything was normal, and he was just a slightly bigger than average baby.

I was referred for the glucose tolerance test in 2 pregnancies because babies were measuring big. I didn’t have gestational diabetes with either pregnancy but both babies were big - 10lbs 15oz and 10lbs 9oz.

I had the blood test and the GTT test. Baby was estimated at 3lbs at 27+6 and off the chart for abdominal circumference. I didn't have GD (despite being 'older' and overweight myself) she was just bigger - born at 39+3 weighing 9lbs 1oz and she was very long.

I have no risk factors for GD, a booking BMI of 21 so very much in the healthy range and I put on a regular amount of weight. Baby consistently measuring big for me so at 34 weeks consultant said “really don’t think you have GD but let’s just rule it out”. Turns out I did have it! Diet controlled pretty well for remainder of pregnancy - baby was 7lb 6 at 39 weeks but was actually very small length wise and more than a bit chubby.
