Tail end of last year I experience a miscarriage (1st Pregnancy). Current TTC. I’m looking for some success stories in conceiving after miscarriage.

For me it was quite a long time in terms of months passed, but that's because I wasn't ready to try again yet.

However, when I did feel ready (physically and mentally) - I then conceived on my first attempt (and am now 27 weeks).

All the data suggests that most women who have a miscarriage go on to have a healthy pregnancy. Mayo Clinic says: "Miscarriage is usually a one-time occurrence. Most women who miscarry go on to have healthy pregnancies after miscarriage. A small number of women — 1 percent — will have repeated miscarriages."

Some other data in the article here: www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/getting-pregnant/in-depth/pregnancy-after-miscarriage/art-20044134

So in terms of reassurance and positive stories, it's doable and likely. In terms of how long, that's really impossible to say. I was incredibly lucky that it happened so quickly, often it takes longer.

I'd be led by how quickly you fell last time, to be honest. I've never seen any evidence that conception will take longer after a MC.

I hope that's reassuring! And best of luck with your journey. X

Same as @OnceUponAThread: I didn't feel ready in myself to try for a few months, especially as the miscarriage was so long, drawn out and not straight forward.

Fell pregnant on my first month of trying and now 13 weeks.

APurpleSquirrel · 13/04/2022 16:34

I waited a month till my first period arrived so I could identify fertile dates & then we started ttc on the dates due to ovulate.
I became pregnant with DS about 3 months or so after my miscarriage.
Pregnancy was perfectly healthy & DS (nearly 4) is currently sat on my lap.

Padderbadger · 13/04/2022 16:35

I had a late miscarriage at 19 weeks. I had to have a d&c after the birth and my Dr said to wait 3 months before trying for everything to heal. We actually waited 4 months to try as I wanted all the test results back first. I conceived on the first month of trying & now have a happy healthy 6 month old (after an anxious pregnancy!)

Regenbogen22 · 13/04/2022 16:38

I took one month "off" on the advice of my gynaecologist and then it happened straightaway in the next cycle.

babyboybluewithnumbertwox · 13/04/2022 16:40

Miscarriage in July, had a period August then pregnant. I'm now approaching 36 weeks. Sending hugs Flowers

MakkaPakkas · 13/04/2022 16:44

MC at 7/8 weeks and got pregnant about a month later.
The miscarried baby due date was 31st Dec and the baby I had (now 14) was born late march.
Sorry you're going through mc. Such a sad thing so rarely talked about irl

junipermerry · 13/04/2022 16:46

Waited a month as advised then got pregnant the next.

Laurzz · 13/04/2022 16:47

Thank you so much for sharing your stories. So re-assuring, we didn’t instantly go into TTC but have decided now we feel ready to give it another try. Hopefully I’m on the road to a successful one. Out of interest, did you continue with parental multi vitamins after MC or did you wait until you were pregnant again? I’ve continued with my folic acid.

Thanks again Smile

I started taking conception vitamins instead of pregnancy ones and then switched back when I got my BFP.

Wishing you all the luck Smile

Had 3 early miscarriages (before 8 weeks), and a stillbirth at 21 weeks. All within a year. After 1st MC it took me 2 cycles, after 2nd 3 cycles, after 3rd I got pregnant following cycle, after stillbirth 3 cycles. The last pregnancy was successful and now have a 11 month old baby girl.

RosettaTheGardenFairy · 13/04/2022 16:51

I ignored the Dr.'s opinion to have at least 1 period before ttc again - I just didn't want to wait. I had my BFP 3-4 weeks after the D&C. My DD is 3 now, was a normal pregnancy/birth etc. Good luck!

Libertybear80 · 13/04/2022 16:51

3 miscarriages then a girl ( now 22) then another miscarriage then another girl ( now 16)

Maybe 6 months to a year?

tiantian1005 · 13/04/2022 16:57

I just had a miscarriage/D&C at 10 weeks, very upset and really want to get back to TTC now. So good to see so many positive stories.

ThatPosterIsSoRight · 13/04/2022 17:01

15 months, despite the miscarried pregnancy being the first month of ttc. Sorry that probably sounds too long for you, but hopefully helps those who read about everyone else getting pregnant again quickly.

My periods went wonky. I think it was the stress of ttc. I was a lot calmer once I’d passed my original due date.

Laurzz · 13/04/2022 17:02

@tiantian1005 Our time will come and it will be so special. Good Luck on your TTC journey!

Been 10 months and still trying....

millb · 13/04/2022 18:32

I had a MC in June last year, but didn't lose a lot of the main horrible 'bits' until November.
I had a positive test at the start of March. Had a 8 week scan and waiting 12 week in 2 weeks. People say it's very common to fall quickly after a MC but everyone is different.

Lou2022 · 13/04/2022 19:08

We started trying straight away, conceived the 5th month after loss. Its such an anxious time!

Tacoboutit · 13/04/2022 19:18

MC in September at 10 weeks, period in October, conceived end of November. Currently 24 weeks x

Chanel05 · 13/04/2022 19:44

Sorry for your loss.

I conceived 8 months after my missed miscarriage. Perfectly normal amount of time.

SweedeyTodd · 13/04/2022 20:20

Sorry for your loss Flowers

I’ve had three miscarriages and five pregnancies.
First two MC, then a healthy baby girl, then another miscarriage and then pregnant straight away with no period in between. Currently 18 weeks.

The first two miscarriages were around three-five months apart and the healthy pregnancy about the same period after that.

Wishing you the best of luck OP

Rrrunrunrunrunrun · 13/04/2022 20:26

I had a mc in July, conceived end of Nov. 22 weeks today. Good luck!

Allanxiousarentwe · 13/04/2022 20:51

So sorry your facing this awful situation I hope your doing as OK as you can be. It took 13 months to fall again after a mc at 12 weeks. I'm currently 18 weeks and it's quite honestly one of the hardest things I've faced. I read so much after my miscarroage and felt like everything said you fall again quickly and your more fertile straight away. That made it harder for me as every month past, I just felt like I was failing. I think I was just so desperate to be pregnant again but my body wasn't ready. I completely understand how you feel though, you don't feel like you will be "whole" again until your pregnant again. Good luck with it all, and let yourself have some sad days.
