I'm 14 weeks pregnant in this time I've had thrush 4 times , I don't wash with soap , I don't use bath products , I never wear underwear if so it's cotton I don't know how I am possibly getting it so much as you can imagine it's horrible and is most likely going to continue the full pregnancy any advice on how to help

Have you treated it properly, i.e. with a longer course of pessaries?

Fleur405 · 13/04/2022 22:16

I had thrush for 5 months in pregnancy - never had it before or since! You just need to keep using the pessaries until it clears.

Regenbogen22 · 14/04/2022 05:36

@ajh04 OP? Any answer to the above?

ajh04 · 14/04/2022 15:42

I've treated it with pessaries and cream each time it clears up and comes again

A longer course of treatment? Or just the one pessary

TwittleBee · 14/04/2022 15:49

Please do keep treating it, even if it feels like a waste of time and money. Thrush can cause complications in pregnancy if left untreated.

Apparently cutting the amount of sugar you intake can help.

I'd go to GP and say you've got recurrent thrush and ask for a swab to be sent for culture. It might be a resistant strain or something completely different. They can also prescribe a longer course of antifungals

Oizys · 14/04/2022 15:58

I’d never had thrush before in my life until DD (third successful pregnancy) I had it so often. The GP prescribed me a longer term treatment in the end that helped and said to come back for more if it did come back. Was so weird.

RLou3 · 14/04/2022 15:58

Is it diagnosed thrush? Asking as I believed I had constant thrush throughout my
Pregnancy - symptoms would go with thrush treatment but return a few days later. Turned out I had strep b which we're giving me severe thrush symptoms. Vanished as soon as I gave birth x

Make sure you see your GP/practice nurse and that they prescribe a few pessaries to be used on consecutive or alternate days. However I had the same in my second pregnancy and when swabbed, I actually had Group B strep (which is important to know about so you can be treated during labour).

I used the canesten 6 day pessaries which has 6 pessaries and used them each time so surley it clears up usually comes back a few weeks after having the same problem with water infections I've had 2 while pregnant and never had one before this

Then you should see your GP and ask for swabs, like the previous posters advise.

ajh04 · 14/04/2022 20:39

Thankyou everybody twice was diagnosed thrush the last 2 I had the exact symptoms so treated them the same I will do to doctors and get swabbed

Should say that I did get a swab at one point and it came back positive for thrush but also identified Group B Strep - so definitely push for that. In my case the midwife did swap because I had a tiny bit of bleeding (caused by the thrush)

babyboybluewithnumbertwox · 16/04/2022 15:22

Another one who had a swab and tested positive for Group B Strep!
