Bleeding at 8 weeks, handhold

This is my second pregnancy, I start with some spotting and brown discharge at around 6 weeks. Advice from midwife was its fine and to go to A&e if it was "gushing" out. I booked a private scan and they saw a heartbeat and a yolk sac and I measured spot on for my dates.
I'm now 8 weeks, the brown discharge has continued but yesterday It started going pink and this morning has been red with actual blood almost like a period. I'm at home alone with a 5 year old so can't go sit in a&e for 6 hours so will have to wait for tomorrow when my DH is home to watch our son.
I guess I just want people's experiences and a hand hold. I feel almost certain I'm miscarrying and the not knowing is awful. Add to it all I currently have covid so just feel awful all round.

Sorry you are experiencing this 🥺 if you phone the EPU they normally give advice and can book an appt rather than A&E so might be worth phoning your local one x

My EPU doesn't take self referrals. It has to come from either a&e or your GP. I'm readying to get in the phone queue for my GP at 8 when they open.

Hope you’re doing ok. I’m in exactly the same boat and nearly 8 weeks. Hope you can get a referral this morning x

ThatBlastCameFromTheDeathStar · 13/04/2022 09:05

I'm on the GP call back list to hopefully start the referral. My DH is on his way home now, he had a breakdown at work bless him.

Phone your GP and get that referral they will probably see you tomorrow for a scan being 8 weeks. I had brown discharge for a week at 6 weeks and then had a bright red bleed at 10 weeks and am sitting her now nearly 32 weeks. It’s so so scary when it’s happening to you but when I had my bleed at 10 weeks the midwife who seen me said it’s not normal to bleed but it is very very common. Try and take it easy ( easier said than done with another child). Also my EPU also isn’t really concerned unless your soaking a pad through which if your not seems a good sign also.

Thanks everyone. I seem to be with thenonly GP practice that's actually improved since covid, they're very efficient now.
I have an appointment for Monday at the EPU, earliest they can do. I really hope this is just one of those things. I guess I just have to wait now.

Fingers crossed. I managed to get to EPU today as mine is self referral. Embryo seems fine, has a heartbeat and no obvious cause of bleeding. Just have to wait and see though as my bleeding is gradually getting worse.

I hope your bleeding slows down. Let us know how you get on on Monday x

Glad you've got an epu appointment. I've had very similar symptoms and they seem utterly uninterested. Brown spotting at 6-8 weeks, then bleeding like a light period for the last 4 days (now I'm 9 weeks). They said not to worry unless I'm bleeding through a pad in 15 minutes but it's hard not to feel that it's going wrong. I just want an early scan to see a heartbeat or at least know what's going on.

I am sorry you are going through this, I know how stressful it is. I have literally just gone through this. I am 9 weeks, and was spotting brown from Monday evening and by Tuesday it was pinky red. I logically knew some bleeding could be ok but I have had a missed miscarriage before so was worrying. I rang my my midwife who told me to ring local EPU, and to say that she had said to call. They fitted me in for a scan this morning and thankfully the little peanut was there with a lovely heartbeat, measuring bang on. They think it’s either a small haematoma that’s resolving or potentially my cervix as I has cervical ectropy in a previous pregnancy. It amazes me how different each trust is, and that it seems some women have to jump through more hoops, I and glad to have a scan sorted and I will cross all my fingers for you xxx

Unfortunately I've been in hospital night and they've confirmed miscarriage.
I just wanted to be one of the good news stories but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

@ThatBlastCameFromTheDeathStar I’m so sorry to hear that. It’s really, really tough to go through. Hope you can take some time off and look after yourself x
