Tentatively joining after a few weeks of lurking! Recognise lots of names from the TTC after miscarriage pages - so so pleased for everyone!! I'm roughly around 7 weeks (based on surgery dates), but more than likely slightly less - I didn't actually have a period after surgical management and got pregnant that very cycle! Feeling extremely lucky but I'm very very anxious about this pregnancy so far - I actually feel less pregnant than this time during my last pregnancy so keep thinking it's not good news! I'm sure it's all normal feelings after a loss but it's difficult to not be fixated. I'm going to book an early scan nearer the time but hopefully for when I'm 8/9 weeks ish. Trouble is though, the scan place only does abdominal scans so I'm worried that nothing will be able to be seen this way at an early stage, especially when I'm not certain on exactly how many weeks and days I am. All of my scans during my miscarriage were internal. Has anybody else had an early scan abdominally? Also, what symptoms did you experience at 6/7 weeks? 💖

flowergarden16 · 05/05/2022 20:33

Congrats and welcome @AsterRainbow !

I think they will struggle to see much before 10/11 weeks abdominally is there anywhere you could go around 8/9 weeks to check?

It's so nerve wracking but we've been very lucky on here so far x

arianasky · 05/05/2022 20:42

@AsterRainbow congratulations, I had an abdominal scan at 7+2 and all was clear on the picture no need for internal

Cruz86 · 05/05/2022 20:49

Hi @AsterRainbow and congratulations! I had an abdominal at 9+3 and this was my scan picture. Around 6/7 weeks I was shattered and had bad food aversions, plus nausea and a tiny bit of sickness. But I didn't have anything like that with my son! So each pregnancy is very different x

@flowergarden16 thankyou! There's a different place not far from my work that does internal ones, the appointment times are ridiculous though with last appointments at 3.45 and no weekend times which would mean that my partner wouldn't be able to make it 😩. The place that does abdominal ones has lots of weekend slots though which we would both be able to attend, it's just a shame it's abdominal only!

@arianasky that's fab! Glad you got to see your little one at just over 7 weeks - definitely puts my mind at ease! I wasn't happy at all with the sonographers at the hospital when I had my MMC - some were very brutal with the internal scanner! Poor OH was traumatised, even just by watching. The only one that scanned solely abdominally was the last one I saw that said I still had retained tissue - no idea how but she managed to find 4mm tissue very clearly, just hope the sonographers at private scan places are as thorough and as lovely, she explained so much that the others hadn't done.

@Cruz86 thank you so much for sharing your scan! Now I know what I could fingers crossed be looking at in a couple of weeks time! I might try and hold off until 9ish weeks, my MMC started at 9+4 though so would love to see a heartbeat before then to stop me worrying - I didn't get to see the last one until it was too late. I keep trying to tell myself that different pregnancy = different symptoms 😬 so so hard isn't it!

aesgriff · 05/05/2022 21:39

@Cruz86 I couldn’t believe it! Really wasn’t expecting it and she was sooo lovely and non-judgemental when I told her about the Doppler at home situation too. Have you heard anything about your groups yet? Xx

flowergarden16 · 05/05/2022 21:43

@AsterRainbow sounds like some of the other ladies on here have had good scans abdominally so I reckon if you can wait another week or two you should go with your partner. X

Cruz86 · 05/05/2022 22:25

I would say there's definitely no harm in trying around the 8 week mark @AsterRainbow. If they're anything like the private place I went to, they were lovely and so understanding! Yes it's sooo hard telling yourself this time will be different. Over time, it will hopefully start to feel a little easier ☺️

Ohh that's so so good @aesgriff, I'm really happy your first contact with them has been so positive! Let's hope it continues. I actually haven't got in touch with mine yet 😬 Opposite to you, having the Doppler has put my mind at rest sooo much, so at the moment I'm not feeling too bad (don't want to speak too soon!). I know me checking regularly is obviously my anxiety in full swing, but I don't feel like it's negatively impacting me at the moment xx

@AsterRainbow i had a scan abdominally at 7 weeks and saw a clear picture, heartbeat etc so it is possible 🥰 Also my experience from private scan places is that if they couldn’t see anything andominally or get a good picture they’ll normally have you back in a couple of weeks to rescan for free xxx

Prayingformyrainbow93 · 06/05/2022 08:13

I also had a scan at 7+2 - picked up baby straight away on abdominal scan, no problem at all! They were so understanding re my previous losses and invited me back for a free re scan at 9 weeks so I could see the growth! @AsterRainbow I would definitely recommend going, seeing the heartbeat out my mind at ease immediately. Do you know when you ovulated? Was you tracking at all? Xx

Also big congratulations to everyone who’s had their scans in the last couple of days. Getting more real everyday on this group ♥️

arianasky · 06/05/2022 08:13

Morning all, how is everyone today? I thought I'd post my scan pics from yesterday see if anyone has any guesses at girl/boy since we were looking at others earlier in the thread, I literally have no clue about nub etc 😂

Cruz86 · 06/05/2022 09:13

Ooh @arianasky I literally have no idea with nub theory etc but I'm going to say boy because of skull shape! What a cute little scan photo 🥰 x

Skl2021 · 06/05/2022 09:20

@arianasky I will guess girl ❤️ and that's a total guess as I can't tell nubs 🤣🤦xx

Annny27 · 06/05/2022 09:21

@arianasky I am going for girl based on nub shape (which isn't totally clear but think I can see it pointing down)

15 weeks

Tofu35 · 06/05/2022 09:39

Struggling a little this morning. Had my first bout of morning sickness (instead of my usual all day nausea). The only time I vomited in my last pregnancy was the day of my miscarriage, and I had to call nhs24 because I was so concerned by how much I was being sick.

Trying to tell myself that being sick is okay and isn't a sign of something going wrong again, but it really turned up the panic thoughts.

arianasky · 06/05/2022 09:44

Thank you ladies I literally have no idea but thought it's a bit of fun to see what you think 😂

@Tofu35 try not to panic lovely I'm sure it's just normal pregnancy sickness 💕

Annny27 · 06/05/2022 09:47

@Tofu35 sickness is totally normal in pregnancy but I know how similar symptoms to a previous miscarriage can trigger anxiety xxx

Tofu35 · 06/05/2022 09:53

Thanks @arianasky @Annny27, logically I know it's totally normal, but when did that ever stop anxiety from offering another point of view! 💛

arianasky · 06/05/2022 09:57

@Tofu35 aww definitely, for me when my skin started getting spotty I panicked as it was awful during my MMC but it turned out it is just pregnancy acne, but I totally get you something you had in a previous loss is really triggering when it happens on a different pregnancy 💕

Annny27 · 06/05/2022 10:01

@Tofu35 @arianasky for me it was when I had a Nosebleed in this pregnancy (and I had them loads in my mmc pregnancy)

Realistically it's because I had more blood whilst I was pregnant both times

Tulip1112 · 06/05/2022 15:40

Hi ladies, after my panic at the weekend, I moved my scan forward a week...can't believe it but the little bean has grown from 4.5mm last Tuesday, still good heartbeat activity and measuring bang on my 7+3 dates! @AsterRainbow this was my scan today- abdominal 🤩 x x
