Hi,
My 3 year old daughter has just come out with chicken pox this morning
I'm 19 weeks pregnant & I've been full of cold / flu for a good 4 days now.

Should I be worried / calling my dr / midwife ?
I had pox as a child, I was about 3 years old too so hopefully immune but I just wondered what / if I needed to do anything

Thanks.

I think it’s ok if you’ve already had them. I’m in the exact same situation this morning. Chicken pox and the explosive nappies that go with it. Confused
The nhs website said that if you’ve had it before then not to worry but to call if you haven’t had it.
I know shingles is a different story when pregnant.

At my booking appointment, I was told not to worry about contact with CP as I'd had it before. If you do happen to get it again, contact your midwife straight away - they do extra monitoring for certain illnesses, CP included. You can't catch shingles from CP so don't worry about that either.

Can I ask why shingles is a different story when pregnant ? I thought if you had chicken pox shingles wasn't an issue

Just recovering from the same. DS caught it and I’m 36 weeks. I wasn’t sure if I had it (I may have had it as a newborn but wasn’t clear) midwives were able to test bloods for immunity. Bloods came back with immunity and as you’ve definitely had as a child, I wouldn’t worry. The only time it is a concern if you’ve never caught it.

Same situation here, 5 year old has chicken pox and I'm 20 weeks.
I rang the midwife and she just said as long as you know you've had them when you were younger all fine and not to worry.

Think it's going around everywhere at the moment!

Oh gosh this has me worried, pox seems to be making the rounds. I never had it and was tested for antibodies - zero!! I’ve had the vaccine so let’s hope that protects me! Currently 15 weeks pregnant, luckily DD 18 months isn’t in nursery so we should be ok!
