Gestational Diabetes/Hospital bag packing

Hi, FTM here. I was diagnosed with GAD at 28 weeks, managing through diet thankfully. 31 weeks now & starting to think about packing my hosp bags but really unsure of what sizes to pack for baby clothes (possibility of a larger baby). Don't want to be ridiculous with every size x 3, would it be safe to pack mostly newborn (up to 10lb) Sorry I'm sure this is a really silly question but would appreciate any help X

You'll be having more scans before the birth which may help, although they are not accurate with baby size.
My GD baby was 7lb 12ozs compared to my non GD baby at 7lb 10ozs so they may not be a whopper anyway! I just went with newborn/some 0-3 months.

I’m going with a few newborn and a few 0-3 before buying more of whatever more useful . And size 2 nappies . Ours was measuring big at 38 weeks

2 of my 3 babies were GD babies. One was 7lb 12.5oz and was in first size. My other was born a month ago and after weekly growth scans and me being told baby would be big then average, she was 6lb 12oz and the smallest out my 3 babies. She wore tiny baby for a week or so and now at a month old is still mostly in first size or newborn.

Hi Guys, thank you so much. I'm quite small at 4ft 11 & noone in our family has had babys above 7.5lb so up until GD diagnosis I hadn't considered the possibility of a bigger baby. Ur answers are really helpful, i have a scan tomorrow @krazipan 😌 so it will be interesting to how she is fairing out since week 28. I've read on here so much about the growth scans being off in either direction so will take with a pinch of salt.

I have to say @SJTTCx that my scans were accurate x

I'm Type 1 diabetic and my first baby was born at 38 weeks weighing 8lb 10oz. She did fit in newborn but they were snug but we had some up to 1m with us as well which fit more comfortably. I'm 27 weeks with my second so will probably take both sizes again to be safe x

Mine was 9lb, he was mega long. 0-3 months fit best

I had GD and a 5 lb baby. It’s impossible to predict. Nevertheless, being in too big clothes until going home won’t be a problem.

I was like this but you should have a couple of growth scans which for me were reasonably accurate. Tbh a lot of "newborn" size things are for babies up-to 9lbs, so plenty roomy. Personally, I bought a multipack of newborn vests and a multipack of newborn babygros, and then the same in the 0-3 month size. Then planned to send my other half to Matalan x

My last baby was 8 pounds 11 ounces and I had only really brought 0-3 months stuff, as they kept saying she'd be big. She was drowning in all of it. It was all just huge on her. I think you should be OK with newborn stuff. It just might not last very long.
