16 weeks gender scan

I’ve just had my 16 week gender scan and have been told a girl. I’ve read some threads on here about the gender being incorrect and hope someone can tell me their opinion please? I don’t want to decorate and fill a wardrobe if it’s wrong 🙈🙈 (hopefully I can add the photo as I can’t see where to at the moment)

Just ask at your 20 week scan? Confused why would a bunch of randoms on here be qualified to tell you?

Don't paint the room pink then? And don't just buy dresses.

There should be a paper clip underneath the comment box. That's for attachments (photos)

If you are new on here you can’t add photos straight away. Gender scans are not 100%. Baby clothes can be neutral, why not wait until the little one is born

It's fine to get an early scan but 20 weeks will be more reliable and hate to tell you that a friend found out her girl was a boy at the 38 week growth scan, so don't get excited unless they can be absolutely sure

ChloeHel · 09/04/2022 18:14

Did they give you a picture of the potty shot? I would wait until the 20 week scan until you start to decorate :) that’s what I did, just to be sure haha.

Do they tell you at the 20 week scan as that is meant to be primarily for health.

thunderonlyhappenswhenits · 09/04/2022 18:29

@toomuchlaundry some trusts will tell you if they can see, ours will ask you if you want to know

Cakecakecheese · 09/04/2022 18:35

I had a private scan and in the photo selection there was one where they pointed out the erm evidence that he's a boy Grin but it is easier to mistake a boy for a girl if their legs are in an awkward position than it is to see a penis if there isn't one!

You may want to wait for the 20 week scan and see what they say, if they can of course.

toomuchlaundry · 09/04/2022 18:36

So have you paid for a scan when you could have waited for the 20 week scan?

Mila1237 · 09/04/2022 20:05

Arr thank you! I couldn’t log into my old account so created a new one so that must be why I can’t add the pics of the ‘potty shot’ Thank you anyway everyone!
Didn’t necessarily think people on here would be ‘qualified’ to tell me as suggested but I’m guessing most have had children or scans and would be able to compare to their own.
I know I can wait to do and buy things but I’m sure some will understand how exciting finding out the gender is so thought would ask other parents their opinion on my scan too.
Thanks for all kind and helpful responses - much appreciated ☺️

I had a scan at 16 weeks which told me girl and they confirmed at the 20 week scan. There's a Facebook page called 'nub theory queens' and if you post your pic there they will confirm - they seem to be really accurate. I was convinced I was having a boy - just over the moon to be pregnant at all so sex is irrelevant but i am so excited! Xx
