Can I be honest about not enjoying pregnancy?

I dont remember the last day I wasn't in tears because of Pain or Sickness. My body doesn't feel like my own, I never got my 2nd trimester wind and honestly... I wish I could hibernate until I go into labour.

I never had my second trimester break either OP and I was worn out!

My baby is nearly 5 months old now and I started to feel better almost straight away after she was born and I was recovered from my section.

Hang in there, better days are coming.

i expect there are many many women who dont enjoy it , all that glowing stuff never happened with me , i had sickness that would wane and then come back throughout the pregnancy . i got that weird sicatica pain once i started to get bigger and was limping and waddling at the same time , in the last month my back went and the pain was killing . so bad i didnt know what to do with myself , oh and i felt knackerd all the time , i was 2 wks overdue and i couldnt wait to give birth and feel normal again , oops nearly forgot the 2 kidney infections that had me throwing up for england one of which put me in the hospital for 48 hours , but that all said its worth it all when you finally have the baby handed to you though , it really is

Aww OP you sound utterly exhausted. Many many women do not enjoy pregnancy, I think there are just so many different experiences of it.

Have you been able to take leave from work at least?

Thank you, it's nice to know I'm not alone and better days are coming.

I hated absolutely everything about being pregnant. Even the baby kicks.

I had crippling nausea, food aversions and almost daily vomiting from week 7 to week 37 when it let up a bit. I also had terrible insomnia and barely slept, which triggered severe prenatal anxiety and depression. I felt like I was in a horror film, trapped in a body that wasn't mine.

That being said, as soon as DS was out (ELCS) I felt AMAZING. Like suddenly someone turned the lights back on. Recovery from a c-section and then the newborn phase were an absolute breeze compared to pregnancy and I adore DS now we don't have to share a body.

Flittingaboutagain · 08/04/2022 19:23

I had such terrible anxiety that I would lose this baby too so couldn't enjoy it. Sure enough she was premature but doing brilliantly and I feel great in myself now 9 months on.

MrsTerryPratchett · 08/04/2022 19:26

I hated it.

I like my child Grin

inheritancetrack · 08/04/2022 19:29

I hated almost every minute of my 2 pregnancies. The first one wasn't so bad months 5-7, but everything else was awful. My second i hated every minute. I think more women hate pregnancy than will every admit it.

TheScrapMonster · 08/04/2022 19:32

Despised being pregnant , literally bounced down the corridor after being discharged 6 hours post birth .
The feeling of freedom and relief was wonderful ....

Mommabear20 · 08/04/2022 19:39

I hated both pregnancies! Not particularly looking forward to this one either! It's quiet it though! I'd endure it and more for my cheeky little monkeys

weegiemum · 08/04/2022 19:44

I didn't do pregnancy well at all - nausea, vomiting, recurrent utis and eventually kidney stones. Absolutely ghastly.

I did get 3 incredible people out of it though, which does make it all worthwhile. But I'm very, very glad my childbearing days are over (51).

I feel for you, I was the same as you. Horrific first and second trimester but oddly in the last weeks of my third I started to feels much better.

When that happened I started to think that wasn't great as the job of the third trimester to to be so fed up you don't care about the labour anymore 😆

How far along are you? I know weeks can feel like months but time is moving ♥️♥️

BFPDec21 · 08/04/2022 19:45

This is my second pregnancy, this time I can't sleep well for the pelvic pain after the HG was awful until midway through the second trimester.

My first was bad with HG until post birth.

You are well within your rights not to enjoy it!

Like a pp said, I was elated and went for a nice meal with DH with DD in tow when she was a few days old. I was so happy to reach the end of the tunnel.

SecondhandTable · 08/04/2022 19:51

This is common. I had two awful pregnancies and hated both. Probably won't have anymore kids mostly because of not wanting to go through pregnancy again.

Avonacha · 08/04/2022 19:58

Same here OP! I'm just counting the weeks. Even more exhausting now that I have a toddler. I hope this pregnancy passed quickly for you!

MargaritasOnMe · 08/04/2022 19:58

For me, the worst part of having kids is pregnancy. You will feel so much better after birth!

SerendipitySunshine · 08/04/2022 20:55

Does anyone enjoy it? xx

GinnyBee · 08/04/2022 21:38

I hate being pregnant. I don't even have any "real" complaints, it's been pretty plain sailing. The only thing I have is fatigue and it's not every day. Still though, I hate it and I want it over! Just over 4 weeks to go!

UnspeakableBode · 08/04/2022 21:56

I hated it with my first even though it was relatively plain sailing, apart from having to wear splints on my wrists because inexplicably pregnancy can effect your wrists!? Now pregnant with my second and it seems one worry after the other, maybe because I'm older? Can't wait for it to be over and I'm only in 2nd trimester! I really wish I was one of those earth mother types who glowed and loved pregnancy, beginning to accept I am not and pregnancy is an unpleasant means to a wonderful end, this will 100% be my last baby.

I had morning sickness throughout, horrendous spd from quite early, permanently tired and THE WORST heartburn (peptac was literally half my diet). I didn't have the best time either - but I would do it all again in an instant.

Just hang on in there, it'll soon be a distant memory.

ThatBlastCameFromTheDeathStar · 09/04/2022 10:40

I hated being pregnant last time. I had nausea the whole way through with only the occasional relief of actual vomiting. Chronic heartburn that nothing would touch and had obstetric cholestasis at the end to top it off.

I'm only 8 weeks now but I haven't had the sickness yet, I am however exhausted and the pain in my stomach and back is really getting me down. I paid for an early scan for reassurance and the midwife said its "just" ligaments stretching, well its bloody awful.
