Hi ladies, just looking for some advice.
I have been getting random shortness of breath from the past 6 days or so, it gets very uncomfortable as I can’t lie down when it happens, and prompts me to take deep breaths. I am also getting cramps in my calves and tiredness, though I have had tiredness for a couple of months now.

I had a consultant appointment today due to gestational diabetes, they suggested I need to get checked for clots and sent me to same day emergency care. My haemoglobin and iron is low, but they want to rule out any clots, so I have an ultrasound for my legs tomorrow, but a full investigation requires x-rays which carries risk to baby and me. Therefore, I might deny the x-rays. They also gave me an injection today to prevent or resolve any clot that I might have.

I am wondering if anybody else had shortness of breath and would I be able to maybe ask for a blood transfusion? I was given iron tablets a few weeks ago, but been struggling to take them due to the nausea which they cause.

I had the exact same symptoms as you - cramp, breathlessness and went into triage at 30 weeks to get checked over. It was anemia and I was prescribed iron tablets and three weeks later I feel much better :)
